They may be suitable for panniers, the small sizes would be good for cameras.

The store is Carbatec and they are in a few locations around Oz.

Wow, that's great. cheap and look like they'd do the job.

Thanks for the heads up!!

Bunnings boxes now $39.95 - so much for being an early-adopter!

I'm tempted to get a couple more to replace the ones I've smashed the hinges on.. (even though they'll probably glue up ok)

Since I'll be living out of the cases for 3 months I'm looking at adding some $2 bunnings handles over the hinge gussets to help protect them in falls, they're the main weak point when using them as side cases...

Something like this:

The handles "should" help stop them digging in and breaking, I'll also put some Sikaflex between the gussets to glue them together to add some strength...

:)

Edit: BTW, I also broke one of the side latches when I clipped a log that was hiding in ferns at the side of a track, it glued back on ok...

If you give the cases a smack, make sure you look around for the bits that fall off... so they can be glued back together

I noticed a pack of ten (12?) stainless drawer/cupboard handles while I was at the B-shop too - long, with slight overhangs, so not a loop like the ones you show - about $25 IIRC - struck me as cheap-as, anyway.

box's

For those adding the Bunnings " D " handles don't forget to add large washers on the inside otherwise they will tear off or pull out of the plastic if it gets a side hit or a lay down.

I think you might be right. I had a look in the online catalogue and can't find them either.

You have to enter your postcode so their system can "localise" the catalogue. I don't think they stock them in Qld.....only a bright yellow different brand one. Too bad...I would've grabbed a pair at $40.00 each.

I saw them once in a local store but that was a year ago.

Nothing in the Innaloo store today.

When this last lot hit the shelves a few months ago I spoke to my deep throat at the local Bunnings. He's been there a few years but is just a happy shitkicker. He said these cases seem to be a special exclusive consignment run between Bunnings & Craftright which occur approx 12 months apart... very approx. Bunnings order shitloads in and flog em cheap. A few months later any stragglers then get flogged off at near half price. Some stores will have stragglers, most won't. Don't expect to see any more for another 12 months, if ever. That's the drum I got. Could be right, could be wrong. Seems right to me. Hope that info helps.

They seem to hide them well so it's probably worth getting them to check the computer for stock...

The stock number for them is "5810184"...

:)
