Put a pair of the Bunnings cases (only colour they had, then) on the KLR about 4 years ago. They have taken some pretty good hits since then, still weathertight, still open and close properly.

The cheapass topbox lasted about a year before the bottom pulled out of it.

I see jaycar and Supercheap are selling similar cases now.

Hi FLickit,

Could you show some shots of the mounting you used for the Tenere side cases.

Thanks

Paul

The side cases are on an OTR rack ($230aus + del):

Using the OTR pannier mounting kit, ($62aus +del):

Looking at the hinge damage to the cases Flickit is using - the Bunnings Craftech (Kinchrome) cases that I bought a few years ago (which may be totally different to the Bunnings Craftechs available now) have a full length hinge with a stainless hinge pin, so should be a bit more robust (if you pick your crashes carefully).

Another thing to consider - if you mounted them with the lid to the bike side then those hinges would be further in - thus less likely to be damaged.

This is what I did to protect the hinges, ROUGH! but it works

Enough scuffs to suggest it was worthwhile:

Here's how it looked before it was glued back together:
