Excellent RR, wish I'd made it too!

Couldn't afford a 'GSA', so now it's an 'XSA' "I didn't do it! & whoever said I did, is a liar!"

Great read, thanks for sharing. Hard to imagine the drought these places went through before the rains started. The adventure sidecar rigs in some of the pics showed spectacular ingenuity, must be a bitch keeping them on the road when it is wet.

Top report Mike. Some great pictures. It's always a lot of work posting a trip report, thanks mate.

I remember having a funny night at Curtain Springs in '96 when I cycled up the GCR.
You're right, Peter is very non PC !

Thaks guys, for your kind words
In passing I just want to say, I went away with mixed feelings about the F800GS.
I had found myself picking at it's "faults", I came home with a new respect for the bike and it's ability.
I rode some fairly ordinary roads and not once did it give me a moment.
I gave myself a few, but the bike was unmoved by the rider's white knuckle panic & just kept on truckin'.
I had no mechanical problems at all, put in no oil, didn't lubricate or adjust the chain, (new respect for chain drives after 30 years on shafties)
Nothing fell off or came loose, nothing broke, in spite of some corrugations that threatened to shake my fillings out, and everything still worked.
I gave it a wash and a mate and fellow GS owner came round and said that he thought it looked cleaner and newer than his which has been sitting in the shed the whole time.
They do seem to wear pretty well.
Mine has done 40k now and I am starting to agree with Ben that this may indeed be "The best adventure bike in the world."
