Open up the airbox and take out the secondary butterfly's, takes 15 mins and made a big difference. Not sure what purpose they really serve other than some emissions thing. My 08 990 was a little snatchy before and with them removed runs great and much smoother off idle.

Hmm, interesting. I'll try searching for how to do that in these forums....unless you have a thread already

I read a little bit about it, and I'll try the tightening of the lines, the throttle cam. From what I've read it goes away after those. My 450 kind of did the same thing.

Viola-tor, I just searched for secondary butterfly

This was posted in the threads before and in the OC Wisdom (http://www.ktm950.info/how/fuel_injection/butterfly_removal.html). Another local 990 rider also recommended to me so I thought I'd give it a try. Pop off the glove box and open the air filter box, remove the filter. The butterfly's you see are the secondary's (below are the primary's) and can be removed with the two screws (don't drop them else they go down the intake!). I left the shafts and all linkages in place. BTW if you start up without the sensor (air mass?) in the cover connected as I did you will get a F1 warning light. Not to worry just reconnect everything and you are good to go. Worked great for me now when I need to go slow standing I can feather the throttle with much smoother response.

Sorry no photos (check the link above) as I cannot seem to upload from my Mac....arrgh
