Yes, I change all the components from the new carb to the old one (fuel jets, slide, needle, air jets, choke plunger, floats, float bowl, AP components). The new carb model is the same as the old (TM33 pumper).

It's sounding a lot like the pilot circuit is not working at all... have you pulled the pilot screw to see if maybe the end is broken off? Can you blow through the pilot circuit?

I've removed both the pilot screw and jet and run carb cleaner through the system to make sure nothing's clogged.

This might sound dumb/odd, but:

I might suggest a lightweight hardening liquid to pour into the tank.
Mark the level below the petcock and make sure to remove it. Make sure its: slightly flexible/malleable aka not going to chip, lighter than gas, ok to react with constant contact with gas, and not going to harden and expand too much.

Ok chemical gurus have at it...
Probably an epoxy.

I just got back from another trip to Moab and this time I used the trials tire. In a straight line the tire does just fine on anything including deep sand. When you lean the bike over the tire starts to have some issues. Leaned over on gravel roads it gets a little unpredictable; it won't let go, but it resists leaning at first, then it will suddenly lean and then grip again. Leaned over in sand, it wants to drift out (making some pretty tight corners possible).

I guess if you're looking for straight line traction, go with the trials tire, if you need predictable cornering, stick with an MX tire. I'd love to find a tire with trials type center knobs and MX type side knobs.

Does the stock airbox mount to this, or did you build another one?

stock for now, its basically the same dimensions as the original subframe, just square tubing and the fender mounts are slightly different. unfortunately for me, i only have access to a tig welder at college so right now im stuck with the stock airbox.

Never did hear if there was a dipstick oil temp gauge available for the DR. I have seen them for the dry sump XR's but not for the DR's.
