Saw a reference to the oil temp dipstick on Joergs DR350 Page. A little searching for Moto-Detail turned up Europe's No.1 in the Motorcycle & Leisure World () where they have two brands of the temp gauge dipsticks.

I would be in for one, I'm sure a few others would be interested if they would ship here.

They say they won't ship to the US for legal reasons. No farther explanation was given.

I'm going to order one of these and have it forwarded by someone in Europe. Is anyone else interested in getting one of these? Shipping will probably be about 25 euros.

Big win for the DR

I went riding with a friend yesterday. He started leaking radiator fluid. Turns out there was a cracked Y joint in the system. We stuffed the hole with aspen leaves and wrapped a rubber band around it.

That got us out of the woods and to a shop where we re-patched it with JBweld and elec tape which got him home.

I went on to ride another 50 miles of trails. I like not having a radiator.

rack

I've decided to build a luggage rack. I want it light (aluminum) and simple. I did a poster board mock up and then cut some alu tube. Here's the frame in a jig made with magnets.

Here's the frame welded up and another magnet jig to align everything.

And some connecting brackets (once again mocked up with poster board)

Here it is installed for fit. It still needs more reinforcement. I wanted it narrow in the front so when I'm going down something stupid-steep and I'm not carrying any luggage, I can skoot all the way back without my legs hitting the rack.

I need a head gasket

I'm using the JE 89.5mm piston. The bore is 90mm. Cometic Gasket offers an 88 and a 91mm head gasket. I'm guessing the 91mm would be fine to use, right?

I spent the last week in Taylor Park, CO. The bike did great. Here I am on the spur from Lily Pond to Start Trail with American Flag Mtn in the background. That was one tough ride. Go DR!!!
