Well, if nothing will, traffic in Ankara for sure will make you more religious and closer to Allah, especially if your reflexes aren't good enough. I personally find the drivers in Istanbul more respectful to riders. Anywho, it was a good RR.

Allah

Yes that ride was a real challenge, mentally with switchbacks that seemed geometrically impossible, a fair amount of mud, and sheer drops...it was the best ride of the trip but well I was somewhat glad to see tarmac but it didn't last long, if you've ridden Turkey recently the road construction is phenomenal...I mean the whole country is under road construction so I was back on dirt before i knew it.

Big thanks

Thanks I really liked the style and pics you took. Its nice to see a person in the pics. And of course you always appeared to be enjoying the situations. Did you find the language to be a much of a problem? I'm looking forward to your next adv report.

small world

You know I think I'll go back for that same pizza, it WAS fantastic and of course the view is amazing.

I didn't enjoy the hot weather either but if you use off road gear like fox
titan and just dunk it in water once in a while it's bearable.
A few years back I got caught in a snowstorm in Austria alone, it was pretty scary and not to mention dangerous which is why I hope to find another rider for my June/July trip, too bad we'll miss each other by a couple of months, you are doing just about the route I am.

Language wasn't much of a problem. I found the Turks to be extremely hospitable and helpful, right down to the machine shop where I zip tied my bags on to the frames. I suppose this is why I want to go back to Turkey for a second trip....

I'd love to visit Turkey, Syria and Iran. To see the areas of the world where culture began is a life-long dream. Perhaps one day. I am reading a book written in 1982 about travelling across Turkey. Iran and Afghanistan into China, Pakistan and India. It is called Danziger's Travels. The one thing I am taking from it is that the people are wonderful and friendly, no matter the politics.

That was a great report and obviously great trip! Thanks for sharing.

It's a shame I haven't been some of the places that you have gone as a Turkish rider. Very inspirational.

there are a lot of amazing places in turkey!!!
I had a similar trip in anatolia two years ago. Its about 5500km and 15days.
I went all the blacksea plateau in a part of trip... especially I felt different in blacksea. you can see each type of green, funny people and eat great traditional meals so I understand you wanna come again
