Wicked North Georgia Dual Sport Garmin Map

I've been working on a custom Garmin GPS compatible dual sport map of North Georgia for many months now. I've invested many hours and have something that is pretty darn useful now. I've decided to make it available to the ADV community. This is not a commercial product and it is not without it errors and omissions. As I've invested so much energy into it, I decided to make it available as a gift for those donating to the craftycoder gasoline and diaper fund. I'm sure some of you will share it with your friends and that is fine, but I ask you to send them to this thread and ask them to toss me a few sheckles for my trouble. A fella has to buy gas, and (in my case) pampers .

I am requesting a $20 donation in exchange for me emailing the map to install in your MapSource application and your GPS. Paypal link at the bottom.

Photos and video below.

Now, on to the nifty features:
  • Routable
  • Speed zoned roads so that route times are reasonable
  • Color-coded roads and trails (by difficulty)
  • Gas Stations
  • Campsites
  • OHV Parks
  • POIs (gates,crossings,waterfalls)
  • Transparent overlay map behaves like
tracks on Zumos (and other lesser GPSs)

Color Codes:
  • Green = Paved
  • Blue = Graded Gravel
  • Black = Graded and Drained
  • Black/Red = Ungraded
  • Orange = Off Highway Vehicle traffic
  • Yellow = Status unknown
  • Red/White = Known to be closed
  • Gray dashed = Foot traffic only

Data Sources:

Full map overlayed on City Navigator.

Central Chattahoochee NF overlayed on City Navigator.

Western Chattahoochee NF overlayed on City Navigator.

Suches area overlayed on City Navigator and Topo Map.

Windy Gap OHV Park overlayed on Topo Map.

Map as displayed on Zumo 550.

Video showing how to use the map.

I am requesting a $20 donation in exchange for me emailing the map to install in your MapSource application and your GPS.

What to look for after install.

After you run the installer, you will find North Georgia Mountains listed in your map list. That is how you know it is installed.

Man, I thought I was doing pretty good with Mapsource and Maps and using all my GPS's to their full potential, but I haven't even dove into custom maps and overlays like you have.

Your list looks pretty impressive.

When can I hire you just for some lessons in map making!

Let me check the piggy bank and see if I can throw some coin your way for this N. GA set.

Maybe we should setup a GPS night to discuss all things ADV GPS. I learned this stuff from another inmate in Tucson one day while on the trail.

Go here and start your research.

I sent you the map, enjoy. Please post your impression and experience. PM me if you are having any problems. I've already repaired a couple problems inmates have alerted me to.
