That's pretty cool to know you can still ride out there. We moved from Tucson to Oregon in 1971 and used to ride all over that pass area. I'd heard it is all closed up but apparently not!

Well done!

Nice ride report. I ride alone on occasion. Extreme caution is the key. I gather you were well within your comfort zone despite a few challenges. I know the sand up this way that was once river bottom is usually deep and soft. I hate sand to begin with. I've stuck my 650 straight up and down in deep azz sand. Always live to fight another day. Super job.

thanks for the report and pics.
Today my legs still feel like rubber. Kind of like after you get to a cool ski resort and ski 3 days straight, then it dumps a foot of fresh and you go out again the next morning, even though you can hardly stand up 'cause your quads are burning so much.

...and I thought it would be my arms, since they weren't working worth a darn coming out.

Glad you enjoy the post. Thanks for stopping in and commenting.

Yep that 525 chugs up just about anything.

Hmm, name change. If I do that my old faithful YZF600R6 might get wind of it and barf up her transmission all over the garage floor. That wouldn't be very nice.

Thats look like tough riding with a big bike.

I'd have to have a lighter bike to attempt that stuff.

Cool riding area...

Agreed, I've been "grounded" with a bad knee for just over 4 months because a Large Javelina popped out of a bush & took me out. The is was a routine ride that I would have felt very comfortable riding alone. If I had been alone, I would've been in serious trouble. There was no phone coverage & I could not walk. My buddies put me on a bike & I rode out to the ER with an escort.

Hey Leo

Good to see you on here. I seem to racall the old days a bit differently, like me lifting into turn one at OHR when you stuffed your front wheel in on me at a buck ten. Turn two, all yours dude!

Hehe!

Good report and important to know your limitations but....... what's the deal with the water fear? Did not look deep was it a soft bike eating bottom? Those orange bikes are real swimmers. A few runs in Floriduh and ya learn your bikes water limitations quick.

LC4e aqua edition in action on a dry FL trail.
