So you are the three guys I crossed on the road just south of Fields (I was riding a WR250R going north towards Fields). I was riding with a group that included the two guys from Eugene you mentioned earlier on your report. We were based out of Page Springs, near Frenchglen.

To Fields for a late awesome Hamburger and shake lunch and some fuel.

Now must make a choice: Alvord Hot Springs or Willow Hot Springs. I know it's a tough choice. With potential weather heading in we choose Willow and decide to take Whitehorse road part way then a small track south and approach Willow Hot Springs from the south.

Where is Page Springs? We come through there each year on Mex2Can. In the past we went through Roaring Springs Ranch to top of Steens then down to Diamond and on to Juntura.

Good to meet you also and find another rider in Madras.

Sorry, none of us were geocache guys so we just signed in. Didn't get the name.

Fields and the Alvord are awesome. Never tire of reading RR's about that area. I've got to get back to see the Steens since we missed it this ride.

Well Tim,

I finally read your RR over a year after it happened. Glad to hear your shoulder didn't get too messed up and that the DR performed well. I know you spent a lot of time deciding on that one.

I still miss the scenery of C.O. and still want to ride all of that but I think God has other plans for me. Why else would he send me to GA??? Oh well.

My cousin rode his F800GS up from Houston this last fall and we rode some of the same route as this RR. I really need to get that ride report started. He put his upside-down in the ditch near Crater Lake. We were able to get it back together and he rode down 101 then back to TX. We have some great pics!

So there's no reason you can't ride Oregon when you live in Texas....he did take 3+ weeks for the entire trip.

Thanks for all the positive comments. A RR is sure a lot of work, but it's fun to relive the trip.

Nice read. I must say though the 26-27 miles from Huntington to Richland is one of the roughest (Wash board like) often traveled roads I have even been on and I would think twice before I did it again...

I can't emagine the ride being pleasant for Jonathan probable having to do most of it standing up.

Anyone traveling through Richland stop at the Hitching post Motel. Tell Thorny (sweet guy) the Greek Guy from Indiana says Hello
