The purpose of the site has expanded somewhat from our original idea to create something similar to the Trans America Trail. The site can hold any and all GPS tracks, whether for a short day ride, or a 3 month exploration of Aus.

The search function allows you to find whatever type of track you are interested in, by searching by state, title, description, type, difficulty level, or by tag. You can view one or more tracks on the map, then download any track to your GPS, and off you go.

There are some basic 'help' pages, so swallow your pride and read them before complaining. If there is something missing that you think would be useful, send us some feedback.

If you are adding tracks, try to imagine you are someone searching for it, and add as much information as possible to make it useful to others.

Enjoy
Peter

Great idea guys. I've had a look and you have given me some ideas for rides already. I will post some rides up if I can work it out. I will have to get out and about and do some of my favourites with the new GPS. Thanks for the effort. Great stuff.

Just registered and had a quick look - will have a better look later.
Brilliant

Perhaps when there are more tracks, would it be worth listing the tracks under state headings?

At the moment, the track you click on is meant to be the only one that flashes, about 5 times. So there is no need to 'unhilite' it. But unfortunately most of them seem to flash at the same time.

Eventually I would like to have checkboxes there so you could 'hide' all tracks that you weren't interested in, and only display the ones you want.

Cheers
Peter

Nice, very nice - great effort. Bookmarked - I'll also have a further look at it later.

First suggestion - when I bookmarked the page, it came up as "Home" instead of the site's name. You might wanna change that sometime.

Mods: make it a sticky?

Terrific job with the website!

There doesn't seem to be tracks near here at the moment on the website and while I know how to load GPX files into my Garmin etrex Legend Cx I've never tried using any waypoint/track POI stuff to create my own GPX files.

I'll have a go at seeing if I can figure out the software and create a ride track and upload it to the website over this weekend.

If I can't get it to work with the eTrex legend cx I'll might grab the 60Cx out of the tinny and try using that instead.

Good question. I'm assuming that anyone who posts a track to the site is making it available for anyone else to use.

I noticed this licence the other day, the 'Do What The Fuck You Want To' Public License http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTFPL

Sounds appropriate for this place.

Sorry, just jargon for people who test software that ain't finished yet.

Basically the limited testing I've done so far is the 'alpha' version, current testing will be on the 'beta' version, and then we go live, with hopefully minimal outstanding errors.

Cheers

I registered and tried downloading and uploading.
I guess the thing that stood out the most was the download procedure. You click the button to download, IE opens with all the code and then you have to File>Save As to save the file.
Could clicking the button just go straight to the save part and skip all the code?

Yep, forgot about that glitch. It's funny, it does the right thing for the KML version of the file. I suspect it is something to do with the content-type associated with the GPX extension, so hopefully I can change it to make it do the right thing.

Cheers
