Yeah no worries, just wanted to make sure that it would all be cool. I've registered an account under the same psuedonym.

Hey Pete, did you also upload all those GPX files up to Everytrails.com?

Looks like I loaded up the Colo to Bilpin one when I was testing Everytrail to see if it would be suitable for our needs. It was meant to be kept 'private'. Sorry about that.

I think I have deleted it now, although EveryTrail doesn't give any help or indication on how to delete a trip.

Cheers
Peter

I agree with you about preferring not to go down the legal route but I would not like to see yourelf or any contributor on the wrong end of any legal nasties

I recall a few years back a participant in a week long organised social ride event who was described by other riders as an accident waiting to happen then attempt to sue the organiser after the predicted major fall.

Hey Pete,

No Objections about it being used, just wouldn't mind a heads up about it.

Probably not a bad idea to tell whoever put it here as well, Just want to remain in the loop.

Re the track colour, I have had trouble finding a colour that works in all of the potential displays, as some are light and some dark backgrounds. Plus I'm colour blind, so I hardly see red tracks at all;-)

Might need to change to the 'earth' view in Taut and find a colour that stands out there so that if the track is downloaded to Google Earth we can be confident that it will also show up well there.

I can do a mass colour change for all tracks, so I'll try out a few options and get your feedback.

Cheers

Viz, thanks for the offer, but I think he'll tell you that Javascript and Java are completely different languages and he probably never touches Javascript. Happy if I'm wrong though.

Looks like a good start for a simple disclaimer. Although I do like Rossco's approach. If we tell visitors that we are only posting these tracks so they can see how dangerous adventure riding really is, they can't say we are encouraging them to do stupid things.

I'm sure the legal eagles will tell us that the disclaimers aren't worth the paper they're not written on. So you can't win either way.

Cheers

Well there you go - shows how much *I* know about any language . (Would not surprise me though if he did know - boy's a genius). All is not lost - I have another friend who does this sort of stuff (Javascript etc) for a living - sent him and email and got no reply - which is a bit ominous (does not generally do freebies). However he has a huge amount of knowledge, and what he does not know he learns; if his interest is tweaked he might be able to cast his eye over any problems. I sent him a link to the site and also to this site to read the comments.

Let me know if you come up against a wall

Tracks visibility

Great idea, registered and keen to help.

I don't see the tracks on the maps at all (firefox 3.6.10). PC running windows 7.

Suggestion - is there an issues log available somewhere ? - spent some time reading all the feedback before posting the above.

Keep up the good work
Pete

Just click the search button first and then select a state for example or add a place name. The tracks that are relevant then come up. The map wont display all the tracks.

An issue I recon with the tracks that have lots of waypoints. Seems to be a problem. The tracks uploaded with just the track file or with just a few waypoints seem to work great!

Opines!

Cape York one is still displaying contents of XML instead of downloading. The other QLD ones all download correctly.

Should be picking up a Garmin 60 Csx tonight hopefully, so will be able to add/test properly.
