Thanks for the post, Paul.

It is very hard to believe that will sell.

(Given the likely price.)

Unless it works brilliantly well.

Therefore, since BMW wouldn't be silly enough to develop a non-seller, we can assume it is a very nice ride and BMW has returned to its roots and put function well ahead of form.

Or that BMW is much sillier than I thought. (Which is very plausible.)

Anyone remember the klassik K75/K100RT? Yeah, the designation is correct. K100RT - not LT, not RS, but an actual RT based on the K100 platform? Came out around '85-87 IIRC.

The K-RT didn't have all the features of the GoldWing at the time, but was 200+# lighter.

This bike reminds me a lot of that one. IF they get the number right, it's going to be one stormer of a bike. The current K-Gt is what, 640#? A Goldwing is what, 950#?

This new bike looks like it should tip in at 700# or less, undercutting the GWing by 250#...and a 1600cc I6 motor that puts out 160+ HP? Really, for the people who want some sport and handling in a full blown touring bike, that's going to be a huge temptation.

If I were in the market for a long distance street touring machine I'd have to give it some serious consideration.

Speaking to my local dealer the other day they informed me that the K13GT is no more. For BMW to fill the void with this bike, in GT form, it will have to be fast, fairly light (300kg ish) and in a similar price bracket.

With that low seat and raked back bars it looks too LT for me. I could be really tempted by a 6 Cyl GT that handles and can tour anything like my RT. Seems unlikely though

BMW does not want to loose any more sales because the "power" excuse to Honda.

I made an LT drift nicely, more than enough power there.

The styling looks like an RT/GT hybrid and the top case looks like it has a passenger headrest!

It won't be long before the actual bike is revealed, thanks for the sneak peak

The GTL is the new LT. It's supposed to cater to that audience. The GT, on the other hand, is more of a direct replacement for the K1300GT, and it's been confirmed the GT has a higher seat and lower / more forward bars, similar to the K1300GT. It also won't come with a top trunk.

The K1300GT also makes about 160 HP but 90 lb-ft of torque instead of the 130 or so of the K1600.

I think it's the equivalent of a 7 series. The L.

Smooth, fast, comfortable, pricey.

Don't like it? Can't afford it? Don't buy it. But don't be hating.

Me? I'm a 3 series guy.
