Bit worrying at moment, the oldies still live in Boorowa, firefront 5kms from Boorowa @ moment, might give tomorrow's ride a miss I think Hoots, drop in for a cuppa if ya want though, see what happens overnight with this fire

The situation at Boorowa looks very bad.
I just drove over to Dicks Creek Rd to check out that fire – couldn’t see any smoke from Boucher’s Drive, so must be OK I guess.
Bloody hot, and the breeze is a killer ...
At this stage, I’ll still ride tomorrow – will post a note and send PMs later this evening (before 9:30pm) if the change doesn’t come through or the local fire picks up again ...

dicks creek is a done deal. last report is that they are on top of the boorowa fire. contained but not yet totally controlled

We're at Millingandi and got the evacuate call. Fortunately the southerly came through in time.

If we're not stopping in Yass, I'll fill up with petrol in town in the morning when I get my coffee....
Any dramas, best text me as this is my last computer time until after the ride....

Spent the evening putting on old footpeg mount seeing as the new one got bent somehow. Made plans for new improved indestructible mount....

Got new brake pads recently and apparently I have glazed them..... so some time also on dismantling brakes and roughing up pads and disks this evening. Fun times, praise Allah for cold beer.

Lots of cold beer. Best get back to it ;)

I think Hoots & stuser might get wet on their ride today, looking very dark out on the Wee Jasper hills @ moment, sure beats the shit out of weather we've had lately!

Misty overcast drizzle here atm.

Got some Dutch relos arriving soon and supposed to be taking them 4wding etc. No promised vistas, but no dust.

G'day Canberra-ites.

You may have read elsewhere that there is a bunch from AdvRider heading to Numeralla for the Folk Festival on the Australia Day weekend? Maybe not.

I'm trying to establish a return route that skirts the south western parts of Canberra. I intend to come down Tinderry Rd, Burra and Angle Crossing.
A couple of years ago a mate led me through there, using Vanities Crossing. It was a bit of a surprise to find it quite deep and swift. Nice.
The thing was that we went around the suburbs, avoiding much traffic and bitcherman, coming out onto Brindabella Rd at Warks Rd.

I'm now trying to confirm if there is any route through that area, avoiding the 'burbs?

I'd like to use the causeway if possible. Anyone with a gps route suitable for my Garmin Zumo?
