That is heading down from Two Sticks on the road below Cooree.

Clay is clay. If you can wait it dries out The clay in the pic was drying out. It was clingy and clumpy and tricky but not too bad away from where the fourbies had chewed it up. It was pre plasticine stage. Slow and steady when you are alone. I like the way it flicks up in blobs.

Not many tyres cope with thick sticky clay. It does dry out quick and sometimes it can be dry on top and all good till you hit a patch and crack through the skin - shits and giggles.

Generally speaking re traction... imo
Ice is worse than wet clay.
Then wet clay ...with bulldust a close second.
Then sand which is generally a bit predictable but sometimes not
Those clacrete limestone balls (Kangaroo Island) or the peagravel in WA probably next.

I'd say the same, always been pretty accurate, dunno what they're like now, haven't used them for years

Bikes are easier to pick up than a fourby on it's lid!

Arvo,
272.2km on the speedo today.
Heading to Angle Crossing, bit cold and foggy, bit deeper than my previous visits.

Some locals around Urilla Rd

Start of Tinderry Rd, coffee and ciggy stop Got cold and foggy

Fog from the top

Back on the dirt past Captains Flat towards Tallaganda

Went into Tallaganda to see if the usual mob were out and about and had a chat for 15min whilst they loaded up and then slabbed it back home.

PS; My computer can't open GPX files, could one of you kindly and wise ladies or gentlemen point me in the right direction for the correct program please.
Alex

Download Garmin BaseCamp and Shonky Maps then import the GPX.

Else download GPS Babel and convert to any other format like Google kmz for use in Google Earth.

We also had an excellent ride yesterday, OTTOMH, Numeralla, Peak View Rd, Jerangle Rd, Anembo Rd, Tumanang FT, Crow Valley FT, White Ash Rd, Jerrabutgulla FT, Jinden Ridge FT, Krawarree Rd, Badja FT, Badja Forest Rd, Kybean North FT to Numeralla, Carlaminda, Cooma forv lunch and back to Numeralla via Rose Valley.

This week I rode again

Some of you may recall that I had an incident near Innamincka a couple of months ago that left me with a broken ankle and a bashed up knee, last week I got rid of the "Moon Boot" and this week have been taking baby steps back on a bike again albeit just the CT110, a mate is our local Post contractor and I'm giving him a hand with his business. The DR ran out of rego. while I was off the road, so will take it in for a rego. check early next week, can't wait till strength improves enough for a decent ride.

I ended up looking at a computer all day yesterday and today ...

+1 re' Garmin Base Camp ...

Some people don't like it, but I reckon it's brilliant - you can load topo maps on a microSD card that goes into the GPS, then connect the GPS to the computer by USB and have access to those maps on base camp - plot out routes on the big screen (cross-referencing to Google Earth), then save them back to the GPS ...

Really good system ...

I just need to get a GPS with a screen I can actually read ...

Onya Benz...best wishes for your continued recovery & well done for helping H out with the additional postal run. Hint: I met you at Jindabyne after the Cold Flame, with Mr. C, at the Nuggets Crossing tables outside the bakery.
