Ride this Thursday (8th)

There'll be a half-day ride this Thursday if anyone is interested ...

We're meeting at the Gundaroo shop a bit before 10:00am ...

We'll head to Boorowa for lunch (+/- fuel), travelling by way of the Bevendale back roads and some of the gravel north of Rye Park ...

Home via Harry's Creek, Tangmangaroo and others ...

The track's been watered, and the forecast is rosy ...

Suitable all bikes ...

Sounds good - that will be our schedule - we'll eat at the Bakery - could have done without the additional sprinkle overnight, so we may be a bit slower getting there ...

And no worries Fati - hope the gout resolves itself soon ...

Ride This Weekend?

A few of us are heading off to the 2013 TK Ride on Sat 10th. Our first scheduled overnights are at the Hampton Pub, Sat, and Warners Bay Sun.

For a few reasons, ie a couple have had to pull out late, we have a spare bed at those places. Anyone interested in a ride up to Hampton Sat, and then find your own way home Sun, or travel on to WB and on your own home Mon? Or?

Nothing too hard planned, but travelling without camping gear. Range FT, Kowmung, Jenolan, 6' Track etc planned Sat.

If anyone is looking for a day or two of gravel roads and fire trails, and an evening in a nice pub, this ride with BergDonk and Friends would be a cracker ...

I had hoped to take part for the first two days, but can't get away ...

But we did have a good ride today - roads a bit softer than they can be, with generally good traction - very pretty country - nice pie ...

Was good to get out for a ride, even it was only from Boorowa back to Yass,
'Kenny' behaved for his first outing in awhile, all good apart from that fluo pink ute trying to do a three-pointer on Laverstock, dunno who shit more - me or him, he had eyes like a possum on acid when I rounded the corner!
Cheers

A few days ago I took the 690 up to Sydney to Terry Hay (Shock Treatment) - he pulled both ends apart, replacing springs, revalving, etc - huge difference today on gravel roads (first ride) - on the weekend will take it to Tallaganda to see how it feels on fire trails ...

The HN6 looks impressive ...

http://www.hemamaps.com.au/en/Buy/GP...-Navigator-HN6

Is this what you have?

Looks to be configured for use in vehicles - is it robust enough to mount on a bike? - does it have bike mounts?

Just back from the Corner, Walkers Crossing, Birdsville, Poeppel's, Warburton, Mungerannie, Marree, William Creek and Coober Pedy.

Having had zilch experience with vehicle GPS units, I was mightily impressed with my sister's $89 Navman EZY100, which comes with lifetime free maps if registered before 8 September.

The shortcuts around Tamworth and Walgett were good but I wasn't expecting all the tracks in the Simpson Desert to be shown in such a cheap unit.

On returning to Canberra I started shopping around and was considering the EZY100 and the HEMA unit but found that the Navman MY ESCAPE II has HEMA maps included in its list of maps but is less than half the price, and has lifetime maps built in and great route planning features.

Are the HEMA units really that much better?
