Three Amigos in Dualsport Heaven

What a day 65-70 degrees clear as a bell almost like Montana, we could see for miles. Three riders of equal ability three KTM 950's Two fast ones (Orange) and one pretty one (Blue)

We, Rocket Ron (Orange) Dave (Blue) and Greg (Orange) met for breakfast in Ramona Dave had 100 miles down before breakfast as he hails from Huntington Beach and Ron is from San Diego and I'm from Escondido. We headed out from Ramona headed for Anza via Us forest roads here is a shot of one of the prettiest Valley in this neck of the woods

We took off and forgot all about the camera for the first 40 miles until we stopped to ham it up a bit here is Dave on the gas

and Ron at the same corner, dang camera man missed his wheelie

and yours truly

So pretty!

And this one is so fast (its Orange)

Both of these guys are good riders I would ride like hell to try to get ahead of them to take pictures and I just could not get far enough ahead to get the camera out and take a picture before they passed me. At one point we came over a rolling hill perfect for a wheelie only to find a huge pond at the base (too bad I could not get the camera out fastenough it was a show. Hence the muddy bikes it was one of many we will find ahead. Ca is not known for lots of water at least not in the last few years we have had a lot of rain so the dirt was in prime condition with traction galore

We dropped down onto a huge Potato farm owned by a wealthy family that shares my last name but no relation. A well know off road racer in the 80's after that we found a bitchen rock infested jeep trail . Here is Ron picking his way up the trail

this is rugged country

Here is Dave coming up. He is a great rider who just started to ride again after breaking his neck 6 years ago. His bike is all stock with a bald Scorpian on the rear,at least he got a new TKC for the front. He does amazing things on a bike with limited traction

The Blue ones are so pretty (to bad there not as fast as the Orange ones)

next we find this old shack remnants of an old mine

Dave decides to rest. We are both carpenters (He is a personal trainer these days) so we think its an easy restoration

they where so clean earlier

More of the mine

Dave on the gas

We got through Anza and headed up into Idyllwild. We headed off into some of the nicest off road riding in this area a few weeks ago I was up here and it was all snow now its just perfect riding conditions, and pretty too

I hauled ass to get ahead to try for some action shots and silly Dave stops to see whats up (its not easy to gain distance on this guy even with a bald tire

Rons a bit of a ham so he knew whats up

This trail is man made especially for ATV use and it is bitchen, bank turns and all. One just has to be aware that there is two way traffic

A water crossing with some other forest users close by she got a little wet from Rons crossing which I missed with the camera

I sent him back for a little ham action (which he loves) he also tends to fall once and awhile (at least once per ride ) Lucky he bought folding mirrors after our last ride

Its tough to shoot pictures into the setting sun and get all the detail but we could see the glimmer of the ocean 75 miles away. A rare clear day in these parts we almost always have haze or smog

This would not be a good place to go over the edge

I finally caught Ron in the water

and the headless horseman going over the water

I missed his head so I sent him back to try again ( still headless)

Finally with his head intact

By now we are pressing for its getting late and we are getting tired we have ridden 110 miles off road and the sun is getting low in the horizon. I stop at the top of the hill, I had managed some time on the other guys and I was lying in wait with camera in hand. I waited and waited and no one comes up the hill so I headed back down. I took this shot since I had the camera out

I found Dave waiting at another spot but no Ron. We headed back down the soft sandy trail to discover that the forest service needs to post this sign

because if they had we would not of pulled up to find this

Caused by a pretty good crash when he did not see this in time

Ron did not see it in time to lift the front wheel The dust and sun obscured his view. He hit pretty hard scratching up his bike and look how hard he hit his head. He's a tough guy not even a wimper except about the scratches

The crash tore a small hole in his fuel line which he fixed pretty quick and we headed off to find the road down the mountain. The sun has dipped behind the horizon as we find the trail. We have various distances to get home We rode through Hemet ,almost had to beatup (middle age badasses ) some punk ass kid in a 4X4 for harrasing Dave after he split lanes. Dave heads west with the shortest distance 40 Miles or so Ron and I head south I have 60 miles to go and he has 90 My total distance was only 240 miles but it was a sweet day

Tell me about it. I haven't hit the ground that hard in a long time. Glad I was wearing a helmet! Kinda stiff today, made a good excuse to watch the chargers instead of yard work Crashing sucks.

Great report Greg and even a better ride! Thanks for posting the pictures and the ride. Lets go again soon!

Ron

P.S. Oraange is fastest!

I'll repeat the "you suck!" sentiment again, and again, and again.

Have I mentioned You Suck! yet?

Come Feb/Mar when the money gods all align, I'll be joining y'all on these hairbrained excursions on an LC4. Wouldn't wanna show y'all up with my riding prowess on an equal machine y'know... I just HATE to make people look bad... *

Anybody noticing that most ride reports with 950s involve a crash or two?
