![]() The 2011 Speed Triple now makes 135bhp of smooth, effortless power at 9,400rpm and 82lb/ft of torque at 7,750rpm. Weight is now 214kg/472 (wet). Compare those figures to 128bhp at 9,250rpm, 76lb/ft at 7,550rpm and 217kg/477lbs for the outgoing model. That’s a fairly unimpressive improvement given the all-new frame, so let’s reserve judgement until we can compare apples to apples, the new weight might be with a full tank of fuel while the old one is listed without. 1kg/2.2lbs has allegedly been shed by each wheel, reducing unsprung weight and the new 43mm USD forks are fully adjustable. Front end looks like my FZ6 if you ripped the plastic off around the lights.
I don't get it. At least fill in the gap between the lights and instruments. Looks half-done as-is. |

Headlights remind me of a mean old lady with glasses.

ugly. Those headlights are awful compared to the old stlye.
ABS is cool to have as an option but that was the only change worth doing. not really sure why they spent the dough on the redesign to be honest, I doubt they will sell more of these as a result |

I think the redesign will allow it to take the 1200 cc mill we know is being brewed.
I like the new lights and the new look...I hope the Street gets the same treatment. |

![]() I need to see this bike in profile because my beef with S3 headlights has always been not the fact that there are two of them, or that they are round - what bothered me was their proportions (too big, too far apart) and the look in profile, where they appeared to be sticking far too far out - ugly looking cups on that spindly mounting ... ugh, awful! Maybe this one's profile will be better. But I think it would still be improved by that single LSL light as posted earlier. And if that makes it look like a Japanese bike? I don't care, if Japanese are now the ones with a good grasp of shape, form and proportion... then so be it. |

I like it. I'm sure there will be a million aftermarket headlight kits, and the rest of the bike looks pretty damn good. I liked the big round headlights but I think it's time to bring the bike forward. With that flyscreen I think it looks great.

I think it is important to remember that the look Triumph is going for, and has always gone for with the Speed3 is the pure streetfighter look, meaning that the bikes have always looked like a sports bike that has had the plastics removed, and higher bars. No extra bells and whistler, just a stripped down thug. I can understand therefore why some people think the bikes look unfinished but to me that is exactly how a streetfighter should look, after all the trend started with taking crashed sports bikes and taking bits OFF not adding extra bits on, one key aspect of this for me is the headlight dangling in space as if it was designed to be hidden behind a fairing. I will admit that this new speed3 does look a bit to "modern" for my liking, but never the less I still thing it looks fantastic, and even exotic compared with the older more brutal looking models.

Will look better with a fly screen - but the Kwak Z1000SX looks a shitload more appealing.

However in this case you should like it. After all, sport bikes (GSXRs from 80s/early 90s spring to mind) used to have twin round lights behind their fairings, but now they tend to be, well, exactly the sort of shapes you see on the new S3. So those new headlights are very consistent with that streetfighter idea, aren't they? |
