Regarding the History: I rode those same roads at North Fork last summer....you will find a lot of history and little side roads you missed in my ride report, link below.

1. "July 4th" Crick and Road, and campsite.
2. Pyramid Rocks (you rode right by it)
3. Wm Clark and his Shoshoni guide Ole' Toby rode on horseback on the same North Fork Road and the north fork of the Salmon River.
4. And of course Lemhi Pass Road just south of Salmon.
5. Lost Trail Pass just north of North Fork.

You rode by the history on markers along your path.

Neat little bike you got there.

Why thanks Wachs!! The Giant Loop was the first thing I put on it!! I love that thing!! "If you can't get it inside the Giant Loop, you don't need it."

I am planning to do a Giant Loop of Oregon starting and finishing in Bend this summer. I would like to drop in to see you.

Redpillar,

Great RR. Just found it. I spent time in and around Spokane, Newport and Couer d'Alene growing up - still have relatives in Spokane - and love the area. I have spent lots of time in Idaho / Montana and the pics brought back lots of memories. Thanks!

Also looking forward to Bend OR in mid-late August 2011. Renting a house there for a week or 10 days with the family. Friends from Shawnigan Lake also renting a house... gonna do lots of mountain biking, but hoping to take the KTM / KDX along too. This will be our 4th visit to Bend. Lots of great scenery, riding and microbrews!

Yes, Oregon is one of my family's favorites. My brother and I are planning a loop starting and ending in Bend for July.
Thanks for reading.

Very Nicely done!

Enjoyed your ride report of a part of the country I have never visited. So glad you stayed safe while riding solo. I also hate that feeling when I lose something...hopefully you have had the time and resources to make your new tool kit even better.

With kind regards,
Dave

Thanks for recycling this report guys.
I am planning to return this September with a whole new plan, if the cosmic cogs mesh with precision.

Nice ride. I'm glad you enjoyed Idaho.

I laughed like crazy when you started chasing the Killdeer.
