Headed out to western md/ west virginia...

Looking to do an overnighter this weekend leaving from south jersey early friday morning. Need to be back around 1pm on saturday.

My brother, friend, and myself were thinking about doing western md, and we saw harpers ferry wasnt much further so were going for it.

Could anyone tell me if theres any must see places, food, or roads to hit out this way?

Were hoping to atleast hit the west virginia border to atleast say we did it, and head back in to possibly frederick or westminster for a hotel.

Thanks guys, and ill have pics ready at the end of the weekend

Ive done a few round trips to Harpers Ferry from my place in Fairfax. Theres a couple of good places to grab food in the historic area right off alt 340. Its kinda cool with the buildings built into the hill side.

I will give you a heads up traffic can get pretty bad trying to get accross the bridge, but hopefully there will be less tubing traffic with the colder weather.
And forget going back into Fredericksburg, I'd take my time going in and just grab a hotel off 340 right there in Harpers Ferry (i think its a comfort inn), then spend some time exploring the back roads.

You can take Co. route 27 Bakerton north and loop around to the north or take State Rt. 671 Harpers Ferry Rd. south into VA (go until you hit rt. 9 it will loop you back to 340), And of course you can go north into MD. Check out Google Earth for routes most of the roads that hug the river are paved and really fun (just watch out for deer and railroad tracks).

Have fun
Neal
