So you saved about 5lbs? What's the thermal savings of your Wings muffler?

It gets warm enough do defreeze your fingers on winter rides but you can't burn your skin with it (so it's useless for frying eggs as well).

We have a set of certified NASCAR scales at my airport that we all use to do the weight and balance calculations on our airplanes (TWO hobbies---is that great or what?). I topped it off prior to weighing (dealer had removed the canister stuff only), otherwise it's literally as I rolled it out of the showroom (KTMWorld, Alpharetta, GA). As you can see, the scales show a total weight of 335 pounds with 45.1% on the front wheel (151 lbs) and 54.9% on the rear wheel (184 lbs). If the specs are correct that the fuel capacity is 3.17 gallons, then that would account for right at 20 pounds of that, giving an otherwise "all-up" weight before fuel but accounting for engine oil, coolant, fork and shock oil, etc. of 315 lbs.

That seems very consistent with the factory specified "dry weight" of 142 kg/313.1 lbs.

Great question! I have a huge list of stuff I'd like to go for but when I added them all up they were also a huge fraction of the price of the bike! Damn, this stuff is expensive. At least you don't have to spring for much if anything, in the way of engine, wheel, brake, and suspension work---although I probably will start out with a lowering link (it's a bit tall for me). Then in no particular order (I'm interested in adventure riding, not Rally racing): Touring windscreen, folding mirrors, Scott's, Rally Raid 9.5 liter aux tanks, Touratech bash plate, Wings or Akra exhaust, flush rear turn signals, heated grips, rear tail rack system and the Wolfman or equivalent bags to go on them, GPS mount, and bigger foot pegs and a big foot for the kick stand. I'll see how I like the seat and the handle bar position before I change any of that. I'll probably also set it up for RotoPax (optional for longer rides). I guess there are a few other common nits and bits I'm overlooking, but I've read this whole thread now and made a fairly complete list of suggested add-ons. I'll go through it a couple of times before I'm done and my wallet is empty, I imagine!

I'd ride the bike for a few months before buying a link. The bike gets smaller the more you ride it. When I got my 690 I thought it was too tall for relaxed stop/start riding in traffic, a few months down the line and I'm fine with it.

As others have said on the wunderfest thread, there are quite a few issues with lowering the bike

I have the 1 inch lowering link. I rode it about 2k miles before lowering. The side stand has to be cut, but other then that, I haven't had the tire bottoming the tank or any handling issues.

And a after a few more months you will modify the suspensions with full travel EXC forks and a modded rear shock...

FWIW the SMC side stand is a bit more than an inch shorter and (of course) a direct swap
