I used to ride a Yamaha TY175 trials bike 30 odd years ago, it had a low fender and seemed to work fine in wet, muddy conditions but would lock the wheel in snow. I took it off whenever it snowed and put it back on for everything else. I guess maybe tyre tread plays a big part in mud sticking?

Actually, it's a matter of what your ride in. If you ride in places that get muddy, then the high fender is the only option. If all you ride on is pavement, gravel and sand, then you can get by with a low fender.

Here's my Ginger on the right with 2 other 690's and my son on his 400. This was on a 300 mile cruise for lunch.

Oh I almost forgot!

This is what the SMC fender looks like, I dont like it. My face and jacket didn't either

I just boiught the 012 Rally hi fender , Its is not as pictured in the manual
the manual has the 08 fender but what you get is the shorter super moto
not happy but it looks ok
