Only to our surprise was a full kitchen in the back that had the daily lunch special of home made meatloaf, fried taters, beans, and corn bread. Seriously one of the best meals i've ever had. The owners were very nice and asked if we were doing the TAT. We said yes and she gave us a yellow legal pad that had "TAT SIGN IN." People from all over the world stopped here to eat and gas up. India, Holland, Cuba, Canada, Africa, everywhere! it was really neat to read where they were from and what they were riding. i have a pic of the sign in sheet, but due to privacy, i will leave it off. I highly recommend stopping here.

I was in Scotland just a few weeks ago myself. Some great riding down on the Little Red River just outside the Gulf Mountain Wildlife Refuge.

Did you guys get take a look at the swath that the tornado took on the ground about a hundred yards behind this old store back in the spring? Scotland came within a hair's width of being totally wiped out by that twister. The ground path is very obvious.

Faulkner-

i heard a tornado came through around that area, i had no idea it was that close. thank goodness it didn't hit a few feet closer. some of those buildings (like the one above) looks like you could just push it over with your hands. Where bouts in Ark do you live?

I live about 30 miles south of Scotland. I ride that area all the time, there is a lot of great riding in that area.

Nice ride report, DR650Lover. I rode the western part of the Arkansas TAT last spring with a friend. We followed Zecatfish's GPS tracks before we got on the actual TAT, so we saw a lot of dirt. I've been thinking that I need to go ride it again, and your pics really brought that home to me. We sure do live in a beautiful state, don't we?

Yes we do. i've always sang Arkansas praises, more so now that i'm seeing some of it for the first time on a dirt bike. The weather here is year round riding for sure. I work in Little Rock, if you ever want to go for ride, please let me know! I have some pretty routes i like to ride pretty close by, but away from the hussle and bussle. Hwy 5 to Hwy 9, around Lake Maumelle. good gravel county roads close by.

Thanks for reading RR and posting! See you around!!

I think we have one of the best kept secrets right in our own backyard.

Here's a picture I recently took at dawn while out riding around Jasper.

Ah yes, Jasper. Stayed at the beautiful Cliff House Inn a few years back. That is where i learned about ADV riding and the TAT. There was a group of riders, i'd say 40 or so. Mostly on Beemer 1200 GS's. They stayed there the same time. Great people and great scenery

We should put together a ride for the Quachita NF. There is a lot of great riding and plenty to see. Thanks for sharing your report... nlp

I'm all for getting together. "Bout time we get organized down here like those Northwest Arkansas guys already are. I think our problem may be that we don't have anything to BS about.

Only issue with the TAT in Arkansas is it just misses some beautiful vistas that you will never see riding it.

Like the Big Piney Overlook.

Its a few miles north of the Treat Road intersection where you drop down towards AR 164.

I got a good circle but it would be a LONG day.
Hector over to what I call Welcome Home Trail, then down to Blue Hole, then north to Falling Water and to Mt Judea for Gas/dinner, then back down towards Fort Douglas and follow the Big Piney south and come out Treat Road, and pickup the TAt back to Hector.
