1934 Miles, a 10year old, 2 Middle Aged Dudes , 2 ER Trips and a front flat tire

Well back at home into the swing of things. We will call the 10 days with plenty of highs and lows a well......an Adventure. One a 10 year old on the back of my KTM 950 adv will remember for a while. Also my wife. I don't know if next year there will be a 2000 mile journey with an 11 year old or not, time will tell. Our plan was simple, ride from Central California to Central Oregon to see my sister. My best friend rode his 950 adv up from LA. An oil change , some Thai food , a good night sleep and we were off. I will finish the picture download tonight and work on this over the next week. La Dual Sporter will jump in to.

good times

It was a great trip for sure. Got some good miles in, several rockin meals, had some typical and not so typical drama pop up (literally lol, that'll make sense later) and some great down-time to just chill and enjoy for a few days. We took over 650 pictures and a dozen or more video clips, I promise we won't post anywhere near that many

This is pretty much where all my trips start. Living in Los Angeles I always get a 175 mile first and last day added to all the trips with Central Cali Rider. I know I'm finally on the way when I hit my first break stop... if any SoCal riders do the coast run through Malibu they know this well.

Pt Mugu rock, it's on PCH just north of Malibu and just south of Ventura.

Not much from there to Santa Maria. Of course Santa Barbara is nice and luckily traffic was decent, at this point I'm just looking to hit Santa Maria and prep for the next day.

CentralCali posted the begining of our trip above, great breakfast at Margies in Paso and back on the road. Was pretty cold in the morning but nothing a few layers couldn't take care of. We tried to hit several KTM dealers along the way, this is the first one we popped in to say hi.

Pinit Motorsports in Salinas, Ca.

I'm kinda jumpin the gun but next on the trip was San Francisco. Typically foggy and tons of crazy traffic but ya gotta do the Bay Bridge, don't ya?

San Francisco, Bay Bridge Park

Ah, Pt Magu Rock. Here's some trivia on that beast. the biulders had to bring everything via barge. The pilings for the cement dock are still there. they used a few tons of dynamite to blast that rock. It took nearly the same amount of money to complete that one mile of road as it did to complete the whole length of the Hwy 1/PCH.
Next time after Pt Magu you should go through Ojai via Santa Paula then take the 192 to East Cielo rd to the 154........Lots more scenic and twisty=FUN!

oh yeah

Cool trivia, didn't know that, I'll have to look for the cement doc next time by. Not surprised on the cost to blow past that rock, it's friggin huge. I've been all over 154, 33, 126, 150 (Casitas Pass rd), 166... all have great stretches of 2 lane backroads twisties on them or nearby!

Well on to Napa for a bite to eat. I always wondered where Sears Point .... I mean Infineon Raceway was at..

Very nice track . A seperate Go Kart Track was attached .

After wondering around the racetrack we headed to Napa as the breakfast was starting to wear off. Napa places to eat come to mind, exotic , wineries, Frenchy places,, well we have no pictures but....... Mc Donalds was the stop...... Darn 10 year olds....... OK dad was happy to spend less than 10 for a snack. The next Stop to sleep and Eat was Williams California with the famous Granzellas....

Granzella's is a really nice Italian Deli/restaurant and clean room less than 90 bucks. .

Can't believe Central Cali Rider Jr was giving the thumbs up after 401 miles... He really wanted to give the Adv Rider Salute

Olive tasting and loads of great food and beer await.

The rooms were very clean and neat... until we got there

Ah day one is in the books. Humm that coffee cup may come up in day 2 ???

Well here was a map of day one...

Day 2 will end with our first trip to the ER

Granzella's was a good room and a good price. With not much else in the area I was afraid we were going to have to eat this one but it turned out very cool. The Jaccuzzi was a great way to end a 400 mile 10hr day as well.

So what I haven't mentioned yet is the fun that has been "building" over the last few days. A "fun" that will end up putting me in the ER by the end of the day (stay tuned for more later).

So this day started out pretty nice. We got on the 5 north before it hit triple digits and it was just straight flat "knock out the miles" kinda morning. After a couple hours in the saddle the pain I've been in the for the last couple days has been building so much that I annouce "we need a drug store".

Our first stop was a KTM dealer in Redding Ca. Nice little shop and the people inside were cool. Sorry, only got a pic of the outside.

Fators Redding, Ca.

After this we went to Big 5 so I could pick up a digital outdoor thermometer to record the 100+ degrees we were riding in today. Of course it was a paper taped to plastic piece of junk that lasted about an hour before the wind took it away. Oh well, if this was the worst that happened today we'd be OK.

The next stop was to a drug store to pick up some hopeful relief from the agony that has become my existence. I won't say what it is just yet but suffice to say it friggin hurt all the time and wasn't getting any better.

So it's finally about time, we are getting deeper into Northern California and the scenery is getting better. Next stop Mt Shasta

Mt Shasta, Ca.

More pics, a killer lunch that came with one of the best micro brews we've ever tasted and landing in Oregon up next....
