Making routes into TRACKS, and making you own TRACK files can be done very easily in Delorme Topo, Make your route then right click it and select "copy to Track", done, save as a gpx file or transfer it to the GPS
Then you can adjust it to the aerial images for greater accuracy, all done in one program. You can import and export track files in the 'gpx' format.

RWAMF, Thanks for these helpful posts. I have a PN40 and have been so disappointed with the learning curve and having to wade thru so much useless information on the web site that I gave up on the TOPO and have been using Mapsource and Google Earth. I hate feeling beat but I have become that old dog. I remember struggling with Mapsource also but now that struggle is over and was worth the effort. I hope one day to have the same results with TOPO because I can see some real potential there and one day I may consider upgrading to the PN60 - I really do like the unit better than my Garmin.
