Smoke chamber handles and latches fabbed and installed...

More DOM, more stove handles, more oddball sprockets and gears. DOM welded in a 90 degree angle instead of bending to keep the handle tight to the door and to keep the latch smaller.

Tiger Girlie sprocket on the front, and a camshaft from a dead Honda generator. The lobes were cut off and the cam chain gear cut in half. Then I used a grinder to flatten out the cam chain gear to get just the right fit to compress the door gasket. It went faster than it sounds, and works great!

Inside detail of the handle...pivot sleeved with a piece of sprinkler pipe for the DOM to pass through, washers welded to the DOM, and a piece of 3/16" flat bar for a stop to keep the handles in the up position when unlatched. One more thing crossed off the punch list.

I like that! All the oddball gear parts are starting to tie together. Gettin' there little by little...

I talked with Kirk recently. He is taking a break from the forums. It was taking too much of his time.

Hey guys and gals, It seems Kirk is taking a long break from the internet. Maybe permanent!

BUT, he just texted me a link to his smoker on youtube...

Leave some comments.

I really hate to see this thread collecting dust.

other welders?

Looks like it's up to us to carry on the legacy...

any other welders making cool stuff?

I got a tip from a friend about a couple stainless steel tanks on craigslist...planning to cut and weld them together to make my own stick burner smoker. my own Redneck Smoker 1.0

Well, I'm a rookie but not doing cool stuff until now. Still struggling with distortion on my simple rectangular frames I'm trying to build (shelfs, tables). But then again it's a pleasure to finally being able to weld.

What's the thickness of the tanks? Thin walled smokers are hard to regulate the heat and keep it at constant temp
