Thanks, everybody!

More from this a.m. Just getting off night shift and should really be in bed catching up on my ugly sleep.

Albion 8" x 2" casters show up. I upgraded my original 3/16" caster plate idea to 6" channel x 6" long. I laid out the holes, drilled them, then welded 3/8" x 1" bolts on the top side.

Gantry end jacked up and caster plates put in place. I will likely box the open ends for additional strength. This also gives a good mounting point should I decide on a low tie brace.

That's all for now...off to sleepy town.

A little more knocked out before heading to work...

Open ends of the 6" channel enclosed with 3/16" x 1 1/2" flat bar.

I just may have the gantry sitting on wheels tomorrow...

Thanks! Yep, if you look closely, you'll see that the post is pinned 6" up so I can get a jack under it. Wheels are 9", so the beam will go up 3" with the wheels on and the post down. Should have a full 2" headroom under the roll-up door.

Fingers aren't very nimble in 20 degrees! I hope you get it sorted soon!

A couple of cuts here, a few welds there, and you too could have your own crane!
