She is still smiling...

The sun started warming the air, and we pressed on toward Roosevelt Lodge in Yellowstone. The lack of traffic and the colors made this part of the trip effortless.

A sample of some smoke in the valley, reminds us of the fire that is ongoing in the park.

I have been taking all the pics myself as we go, but in this situation, I let my wife handle the camera and keep both hands on the bars...

TATANKA!!

The colors stayed brilliant and we were all enjoying the morning.

A quick stop for the last of my mug of coffee and to take in the moment...

Alan is all about enjoying the moment. That is a smile from Alan, trust me.

and my wife..., of course she is still smiling.

Speed traps and assless chaps

WetRider: The fake car is gone in Cooke. Maybe it is in for repairs for the winter.

Ladybug: I will let Alan know you mentioned his ass and to look for some riding "pants" to replace the chaps. I believe his wife got him those chaps.

GB: That smile is what hooked me on her.

Up and over from the Roosevelt Lodge area and Tower Falls to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Lots of smoke the first 5 miles or so as we ride South.

But it clears in time to enjoy the vista from Dunraven Pass.

Off in the distance you can see the Grand Tetons, and as we are out of the inversion of smoke and cold air, the temp rises 20 degrees in two miles.

She is of course still smiling...

Time to point toward home...

After a short stop at Fishing Bridge for a blast of coffee, we head to Cody for lunch. This trip is anything but a disappointment. Colors, light traffic and great weather.

As we decend toward Cody, we find more smoke and more great colors.

Yah, I know, she is still smiling...

Leaving Yellowstone and heading home

The East gate of Yellowstone. Mighty nice... and notice the lack of traffic!

Down the North Fork of the Shoshone we go... smiling all the way.

Past Buffalo Bill Reservoir and Dam...

Leaving behind Yellowstone

After lunch at the Irma in Cody (no photos of course), we press on and up into the Big Horn Mtns. It was colors we were in search of this trip, much like those that came to the mountains in earlier times, searching for their own type of color.

As mentioned in the first few photos, this image is returning from whence we came.

We all made it home safely from this simple 2 day trip. Alan practiced some new techniques on looking through the corners, so he was a happy man.

My wife, well you guessed it. She is STILL SMILING!

Thanks for coming along.

Very nice RR, great photos. I was in Yellowstone and Bozeman this past weekend (driving a car) and the weather was indeed awesome. Two thumbs up.

Thumb Oh Wyo...

Wyobrew, you're making me homesick (I'm from Worland originally). I miss the autumn in the Big Horns, the badlands, the absolute solitude of the roads, and a good steak. Crazy to see smoke still hanging around from the forest fires... so much for the end of the drought.

Cheers

Question Name Your Pants

Wow you can make a road look inviting! This is quite the attention-getter:

So few pants come with the always useful cargo pockets. Those look good.
What brand are you sporting here...?

Thanks.

Rev' It! pants. Great stuff.

Odadabwa: I have never traveled the world like you, but I find myself missing Wyoming if only going to AZ or Cali for a ride. If you grew up in Worland you can understand. There is something unique about this state. And only 500k people allowed in at at time.

To all others: THANK YOU for sharing the journey. I hope to have more rides in the future.

Doug

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing pics from one of my favorite areas - I have family up there and have made a couple trips up there on bike in the past. The trip over 212 to Red Lodge is AMAZING!

Thanks so much for that report. I'm from Powell and this time of year is just the best for those crisp mornings and warm days. I miss seeing that color in the aspens.

The trip up through Sunlight, and down to Red Lodge was a Sunday drive when I was a child. I much prefer doing it on a bike these days
