3rd Annual (now invitational) Pachaug Dualspork Camp-n-Ride

I'm pleased to announce they 3rd Annual (now invitational) Pachaug Dualspork Camp-n-Ride

When: Friday Oct 31 - Sunday Nov 2
Where: North Stonington, CT
What: Big bike and skinny bike friendly, just be registered.
how much? $10
why? It's Halloween. Get in the spirit of things, and brap.

Yes, this year it is invitational, so I'll begin by addressing that. The event will be held at a private residence. Not my house, but a generous friend. So, I am limiting this to a party of 25. We still have room for a few more ADV friends, so if you want to go, PM me.

The location is off Rt 201, within a mile of the Pachaug Enduro Loop (linked in my signature). So far private invites have been sent out and I still have room for 10 or 12 more people. When you are paid up, you will get the exact address.

No inside showers, a bucket or hose shower are options though.
Inside toilet (and sink) IS available, remember to limit the impact though. You know what I mean.
Public drinking water IS on site, of course.
Gas and all normal town stores are within appox 3 miles.
There is a nice fire pit, and plenty of room for everyone to spread out, and then some. Seriously, it won't be tight.

What to expect? Well, as usual, it's whatever you want it to be. Bring what you ride, ride what you bring (or switch it up OPB style).

This year, I plan to have a challenging big bike route in place. Last year, my big bike ride was made shorter/easier. This year will be the Full Monte. It's not too bad, most of it is cake with a few real sketchy spots. I did it before on my 990, and I'll pre ride it again to be sure. It will easily be 100+ miles and take in excess of 3-4 hours to navigate, I assure you. Pack a lunch, and mabe a bit extra. I will know better after I pre ride. I will provide a GPX file for the route (track) a week before the event to those on the IN list only.

Also, if you prefer more of a challenge, we have the Enduro Loop to ride . Standard New England trails, nothing extremely hard. Bigger bikes tend to shed parts along the way, but it's doable. Just don't say I didn't warn ya. I will most likely be on the skinny bike, doing the enduro loop a couple times at least.

As always, the riding rules are basic. Most important - GO SLOW ON PARK ROADS. ALL of the trails and dirt roads we ride on, even the Enduro Loop, are "mixed use" trails. That means there can be, and WILL BE, hikers, bikers, horses and similar out there. Don't push it to 100%. Be ready and able to stop and yeild to large stompy animals. People have gotten tickets, and roosting and general ass hattery makes our whole group look bad. Keep it cool and I'll keep hosting these rides.

I'm asking for $10, all monies collected will go to the property owner to offest the cost of throwing you guys a party. Enough said. Once the few open spots are taken, I'll edit this post and say "REGISTRATION CLOSED" up top so you can't miss it.

Here is who is on the list / paid / gotten the address. I'll be editing the list as things progress.

And there it is. Thanks.

I have a limited amount of attention, work thinks they're entitled to most of it while I'm here.

Yeesh.

It's really nice to see things come together for this one. People are committing and the reality is setting in, WE"RE DOING THIS !!

Is it really this time again? I could be wrong, but I think this was taken at the last Halloween CnR.

To those signed on, I really want to say, you are in for a great time. I went to the property and it's like 1000x better than camping at the park. Manicured level lawn, front and back. Also wooded sites available for camping along a path. The hosts are amazingly nice people, I can't wait for you all to meet.

To those not committed, get while the getting is good. The spots will fill up and all you can do is wait for the pictures. PM me to get signed up.

Here's another good one from CnRs past...on the skinny bike route...

I miss ya Mr T10 , you brought a lot to the party and you're a great friend. Hope I can make it out that way at some point not too long from now.

For those interested, Rob, is it possible to come down and enjoy the festivities for just a day of riding and not camp? Unless my son has a footbal game that day, I'd love to come down and chase y'all around on Saturday if there's room . I could just park at the State Park and arrive/depart from there if that's better than showing up at your friend's residence. Heck, I'll even donate the ten bucks to the property owner for being a good dooby and hosting the group!

BUT, don't let me take up a slot if someone else is wanting to attend and camp...

Yes, akarob, get out to Colorado before mrt10x sells all his bikes 'cos he can't negotiate the two aspens close to a trail . The riding is, as we say in Rho'Dylin', wikkid retahded.

And to those of you whose bikes I haven't ridden...get ready for the ask.

I had to really work the system to make this weekend happen. The wife is working in Boston that weekend and my parents are supposed to be in town. I called in a few favors to the in-laws and put them on weekend baby duty and apologized to my parents that i will not be seeing them.

needless to say I am polishing up the white boots and putting on my party pants (thanks to rob for mending the burn hole in the knee)
