CT riders check in...

Brandy new to the forum. Thought I'd say hello and start a thread for CT riders to check in. (Didn't see one specific to CT)

I just picked up a new (leftover) 2012 Tiger 800XC. As time allows I would like to ride a little off road with people. I have NEVER ridden dirt before, and the bike has the stock tires, not street knobbies, so please be gentle. :) I have plenty of years and miles under me though. I was looking for something different and fun. So far, this Tiger has been that and more.

So....hello!

Lots of dirt roads in Ct, I ride my Buell Uly on them your tiger will be fine.
I like to ride with my gps and if I see an interesting road I can look at it and see if it is on the map and a legal road, you can be pre try surprised where pop out.

I'm in Simsbury. I ride an 2007 Honda ST1300. I'm trying to sell it right now. There is nothing wrong with the bike. Just want to change. Fickle, I know. I've been on the forum for some time but just started posting again after looking for info on the bikes I'm thinking about.
Might pick up an older XR650 or DR650 if I find what I like at a price I like if it's close enough in Connecticut.

There are quite a few dirt town roads in upper Fairfield/lower Litchfield Counties (Southbury,Woodbury,Roxbury,etc.). They show up as dashed lines on my Garmin maps. Its possible to string together a nice afternoon of riding. Unrepaired erosion damage can make for some mild challenges. Just have to be wary of cars once in a while.

Hey, Andy here. I'm in Woodbury, and live in the middle of that dirt road mess mentioned above :) Generally do rides after work wednesdays or thursdays. Interested, let me know!

I've got an XC as well, and Boinoodle has one and is also nearby. He's had his longer than me, but hit us up for any questions on what's needed for the local goods.

Hello btao-
I may try to hook up with you in a few weeks. Right now I am trying to get myself and my KLR set for a solo trip to Nova Scotia next week. Planning on using Canuman's NNEAT route to get across Maine for the start. Mainly road work after that.

I'm in Fairfield. Nowhere to ride around here.

It's about an hour to Rocky Hill MX track, or Thomaston Dam. :(

I think there was some stuff in Oxford and Southbury... which is kinda closer, and a bunch near New Milford... If you make it up to washington/morris area I have a nice big loop for ya.
