Being a KLR rider, I make my own with telephone books and duct tape.
Since you have one of those fancy DRZ's, check out RevZilla for a good new gear selection and the fleamarket here for great deals on used gear. The popular thought for protective gear is to wear as much protection as you can comfortably tolerate as each degree of protection you have takes away a degree of mobility.

Bob Q - Check out Motorcycle-superstore as well. They usually have some good sales going on in all price ranged gear.
RhodeHazard- Nice Vid, that's one hell of a beer run. NK NK283 screwed with this post 05-13-2012 at 02:05 PM |

Bob Q: If you're interested in a compression jersey (google it) I have a used prototype from Velocity Gear. They gave it to me for free when they couldn't get me a new one in time for a trip. Kept the new one. Great customer service; the prototype isn't as good as the new one (stitching has been improved for one thing -- had to field-repair the used one), but it'll give you a feel for if you want to try that level of protection. It's an L/XL. Let me know.
Rhodehazard: Damn, I missed the best riding by leaving Saturday. The beer run and the sunday route look like they were awesome. Shit.

Ok.. not sure what the AA button does... but I will go with embed for now...
I was able to make a second attempt at the Old Connecticut Path today... (Search youtube.com for additional info) but the claim is this is one of the first roads used by early settlers to get out of Boston and settle in Hartford CT. I am working the section that is just above Douglas SF... Here is the overview: ![]() The firs attempt to get to the path was made from the south but ran into the "Gate" leading into Douglas SF. The point called Single Track/Big Hill seem like a good spot for a single track capable bike to attempt the road that goes in a straight line to the NE: ![]() There is also a rocky hill climb nearby also going NE: ![]() I then went down Pointless Road... which was of course.. pointless. So up to the Beagle Club road... and then a left turn at the clubhouse and I was on the OCP... ![]() The two lane dirt road started out pretty nice... ![]() But after a short while things started to get more difficult, and the mud and puddles started to show up: ![]() But this didn't look too bad so I went on, until I got to the stream: ![]() Which I decided was too much for me today: ![]() Here is the Box Culvert that is shown in the youtube videos...these are original to the road! ![]() The KLR saying... No Way! ![]() And the Ancient Beaver Dam...that has long been abandoned: ![]() The path on the other side of the stream.... looks doable... ![]() But I turned around here and on the way back I ran into Dumbass Puddle... because this dumbass almost got stuck in it.. ![]() Once through Dumbass Puddle.. I had enough adventure for one day... and made a bee line for home base... |
