I always wondered how Rob rode so well, now I know.. he is literally touched by God

HDR photos? In camera or multiple exposures shopped together afterwards?

HDR.. 3 to 5 exposures...

Loaded CHDK into my Canon SD 780 IS to take the shots, then
Photomatrix to make the final image...

That sounds complicated, I have HDR mode on my camera phone still have no clue what it does

HDR take several photos, taken one after another in rapid succession, but with different exposures, and combines them into one photo using all the best parts from each photo. It basically expands the dynamic range of a photo to show parts that would be blown out or too dark in a single exposure.. make sense??

Most "in camera" HDR processing isnt actually HDR, in that it doesnt actually combine multiple exposures.. it simply applies an HDR affect to a single photo. The problem with HDR and hand held shots is that you often get bluring of some items due to not holding the camera perfectly still. A good SLR can shoot 3-5 frames in less than a second so you can hand hold for HDR... a camera phone could never take that many shots quick enough.

I didn't know what HDR was but I did notice some of the photos in the trip reports on this site were
not your every day photo...

Then someone mentioned HDR and I started researching it...
and discovered I could convert my camera to take these pictures...

Photomatrix gives you a lot of control over the processing and is easy to use...
Loading CHDK onto my camera was a pain....but makes taking the multiple exposures much easier...
It also gives you a Motion Sensor Mode, Time Lapse Mode.. and many more options....

Lilo 's experimental rear butt airbag system, I think.

Pachaug traffic jam.

Man, I realize I'm really bad at staying with the group. I'm used to riding with the little bike crew and they're always "go go go". All I can say is that I'll try to exercise more patience at the obstacles. I guess in my mind, everyone else follows me and picks the same line. The reality is that people need help and I'd like to be there. If you noticed, on our ride, I tried to hang back and follow. That worked ok until we got to a favorite trail of mine. I pretty much rode that trial out to beach pond like I was on my 450, just more cautiously.

Anyway, drivel aside, this pic is the best one I got.

MatPoc / fork seals: I went out to the garage earlier to prep my bike for fork seal surgery and my right seal was just as bad as yours.. It wasn't just weeping out like normal. Once all that Pachaug horse piss mud had a chance to dry on my bike I could see that the right side of my bike was covered in fork oil, even up high on the radiator/radiator shrouds a few inches higher than full travel of the forks. They're draining now and I'll swing by Razee tomorrow to see if they have seals in stock. Winter maintenance came early this year for the bimmer...

CtDualSport: I'm looking forward to some video soon..
I may have some video but I didn't use my helmet cam much since I had mounted it at a poor angle and I think I mostly have footage of my hand working the clutch. If I caught anything interesting I'll post it up..

Rob: I rode the F650 through the lower half of the loop and it wasn't bad aside from scraping the skid plate on rocks now and then.. It would have been fun to see you or Aaron (Loph917) out there on the liter bikes though.

Aaron
: I didn't even realize you left till after you had gone. You would have spiced up the Sunday ride for sure... Plus I was hoping to see the SE in action..

When I saw this pic, just for a second, I thought everyone was stopped for a brush fire. ( top left quadrant ) HDR is cool and weird at the same time.
