Very nice edit! I haven't heard a Yes song in ages.

Where should I bring my 4 smoker WR250F to make it a no smoker?
Performance is fine, it just stanks!

Should be able to do it yourself. New rings? Piston?

Thanks! There's about 6 hours of footage on the cutting room floor (so to speak). More like 21Gig in the recycle bin.

I've rebuilt more than a couple engines in my day. If you decide to do it yourself, I'd be glad to advise you on the more technical aspects. If not, take it to a Yamaha dealer and pay them about $80/hr + parts. The whole job should take roughly 5-6 labor hours in a shop. Plan on getting your cylinder bored to the next size up. If it's smoking a little, it's no big deal. If you're leaving a smoke screen, it's time to get into it.

For what it's worth, I'm getting ready to do a piston job on my KTM right now, and it's not even smoking. The service interval for the piston is 100 hours, by the book. I'm at 250 hours and I'm going to do it before my cylinder is ruined. It's basic maintenance on a wafer thin piston. I'll clean the carbon off the back side of the valves and check the valve clearance, seats and springs while I'm in there.

It was smoking enough to keep anyone form following closely, I'd say good time for new rings.
done plenty of engine rebuilds, not 100% sure about WR but should be simple enough if you can follow instructions.

I *can* do the WR engine, but the Norton project is dominating my entire work space. I do hate paying for labor that I can do myself, so I guess I'll clear some space and get to it.

Thanks Bomber... I did try that about 4 times... kept seeing if I was missing something, but still no luck. I suspect that my antivirus or family minder security is the root of the problem. I'll try again on the next video.

Nice video Sean! I start every ride with the intention to get some good photos and/or video but as soon as the kickstand is up I completely forget since I'm having too much fun riding..

If anyone wants to come out to central CT (East Haddam, CT) and do a trail clearing ride this weekend let me know via PM. Small bike oriented tight single track but no more technical than the pachaug ride last weekend.. There may be a lot of trail blockages though so it may be more trail clearing than riding. I have a feeling my local area will have more trees down than Pachaug did but perhaps my area got spared... There's only one way to find out!

Last Sunday's ride has me inspired and I may look for a smaller bike to ride the woods. I'm 5'6" and all my off-road experience comes from couple laps around Pachaug so I really have no idea what I'm doing or what bike to get, all I know that my 640 is nice but heavy and I want to put it back to SuMo anyway

This past weekend Yamaha was most represented brand, WR250?

I'm a big Honda and KTM fan but didn't see any Honda's and probably can't afford an EXC...

DRZ?

small KLX?
