What's wrong with you Al? Old TWs look like new TWs. That's the beauty of the perfect bike. No need for changes. 1987 to 2012 a TW is a TW is a TW.

Its muzzle-loader season now. Shotgun deer starts Dec.1. Ct bans hunting on Sundays, RI does not.

And Turtledub is right, it's hard to improve on perfection. The only change to the TW in 25 years was in 2002, when it lost the kick starter but got a front disc and a slight bump in the stator output.

Matpoc, good pics, ...we used to party there in high school!

Judging by the 4 deer I saw hanging from barns on my way home yesterday I would suspect that deer season has started or route 102 is full of poachers.

Dont worry about those muzzle loaders they cant hurt you at all.

RI Hunting seasons and regs

Deer hunting season been "ON" for a while now:
Archery (bow and crossbow) started September 15 and goes on all the way through January 31
Muzzle-loader already started November 3 and goes through November 25, than Shotgun December 1 to December 16 (Zones 1, 2 which is most of the state except Prudence Island) and again December 26 to January 2 in Zones 1, 2, Private land , Antlerless deer only, which is still dangerous for us as they will put a 12 ga slug in you just the same...

Some useful info:

Shooting Hours for most of the game:1/2 hour before Sunrise to 1/2 hour after Sunset

Daylight fluorescent orange - the color orange having a dominant wave length between 595 and 606 nanometers, an excitation purity not less than 85 percent, and illumination factor not less than 40 percent.

Fluorescent Orange Requirements

Fluorescent orange safety clothing is required during the hunting season statewide for all hunters. To meet this requirement, safety clothing must be solid daylight fluorescent orange. Fluorescent camouflage does not meet this requirement. The hunter orange must be worn above the waist and be visible in all directions. Examples are: a hat that covers 200 square inches or combination of hat and vest covering 500 square inches.

1. 200sq. in. by small game hunters during the small game season.
2. 200sq. in. by fall turkey hunters while traveling.
3. 200sq. in. by muzzleloader hunters during the muzzle-loading deer season.
4. 200sq. in. by archers when traveling to/from stands during the muzzleloader deer season only.
5. 500sq. in. by all hunters (including archers) and ALL USERS of management areas and undeveloped state parks during all portions of shotgun deer seasons.
6. Hunters using Pop-up blinds during the firearms deer season must display 200 square inches of fluorescent orange visible on the outside of the blind from all directions. Hunters must also wear orange in accordance with the rules for the specific seasons while in the blind.

ALL OTHER USERS
In addition to the above hunter requirements, all other users (hikers, bicyclists, horseback riders, etc.) of State Management areas are required to wear 200 square inches of solid daylight fluorescent orange from the second Saturday in September to the last day of February and the third Saturday in April to the last day in May, annually.

Should we make it a sticky? Perhaps somewhere outside this thread so everyone can see it?

Yes, in some cases it can come in handy as a good muzzleloader will send a 50 cal slug quite a distance
Muzzleloader in competent hands is a dangerous weapon and can be purchased in any WallMart over the counter without 7 day waiting period

Why orange after Jan 1st? Is there any hunting then?

Also, the Pachaug loop does not use any trails in Rhode Island. We do sometimes use a ROAD that passes through, but I do.t think the orange rule applies to passengers in/on a vehicle on a designated road. Trails, yes, if you use them.
