Columbus Day Holiday Voyage - NC Mtns.

Columbus Holiday Voyage.

I left home to grab a tag in the NC ABC tag game that was 176 miles away from home. I had a chance to ride a little of the Blue Ridge Parkway along the way. Here are some pics from my journey.

Packed and ready to leave Casa de FishHunt.

Two hours later I find myself here. This looks like a fun road.

After playing around a bit I head west again and reach my favorite drive.

At this first stop I am greeted with this view.

Burning daylight I head south on the BRP to grab the tag located at Elk Falls on the Elk River near Elk Park, NC. A lot of "Elk" names here but no Elk in sight.

Back to the BRP I slow down and take in the sights.

Shadows getting longer. Time to adjust the sails.

I had time to stop by Price Lake and Cone Manor along the way.

Shadows were falling all around me now. Time to cast off again.

Headed north on the BRP towards Hwy 421.

All too soon I reach the 421 bridge and have to head down the hill in the dark towards home.

I wish I could have spent another day or two just riding the area. We are granted a limited number of fall days like this and hate to waste them. I hope I can return before the all the leaves have fallen and cold weather sets in.

Nice pics FishHunt.

Was riding up that way only a week before you and hardly any color change in sight except for a tree here and there. Good thing I'm riding this weekend if I'm gonna catch any good pics like yours.

Thanks for sharing. Fall rides are great with the changing colours and cool air. The bikes seem to love it and so do I.

What a difference a few days make. I was not too far from there just a few days earlier and the leaves were just barely starting to change.
Nice pics

Thanks for the comments. The colors on the BRP should be peaking now and for the next several days. This past Monday was the most colorful day I have ever spent riding the NC hills.
