+n.
great mod. No high speed issues. No cooling issues. No mud issues.

The only place I have not tested is high speed sand - e.g. Desert riding.

Is there a quick and easy 'go to' for all of the parts for the high fender mod?

Nice paint details and I love those Safari Tanks.
Did you also go through the R forks conversion, or is just the front fender color?

I think that's a true R with 950 side panels

Now that you mention this, besides the paint job I talked about (frame, swingarm, etc), I see even the turn lights also should have been changed...
Ok, given your theory is easier, let's stick to it

Tank guard / nerf bar question

I noticed that most folks with the nerf bars tend to keep the lower tank guards (plastic shroud) in place. This seems redundant and the fins will interfere with the nerf bar bags I got from Geek. The only reason I could think to keep them is to protect the leading edge of the lower tank.

Thoughts?

Area is still subject to 'pokes' from protruding rocks, sticks, etc. Especially down low.

Thanks, good points. Not that I intend to ride around those kind of hazards. I priced the parts. They are $15 for the covers. I think I'll butcher the stock covers to keep the front protection.

Tearing down to put in HID lights, LED floods, and run a vacuum line for a chain oiler.

All the parts I changed over from my 950.
Since I already had the orange Safari and until I can get hold of a black Safari, I didnt want it looking like something from the parts bin...So orange it is for a while

2 weeks and 2000k's and Im loving it, just have to get the suspension up to the 950's standard and thats happening next week

The A990 bags WILL scratch up the surface of your fuel tanks over time - if you don't run the guards then at least put some Mylar or something underneath to protect the tanks from abrasion.
