Headlight / LED light guard. Is this cool or dorky to you?

So, there I was in church a few weeks ago trying to pay attention and connect with my creator. I usually like being in church with friends. This sunday I was mostly daydreaming about riding my 990R, and what modifications should come next. I had just installed a Baja Designs Onx 4 LED bar and really like the way it works. A rock guard would be good to keep the stones away from it and my head light above.

But, here in Cambodia there are not warehouses, and parts stores to just go and buy what ever I need. What to do? Then I looked up and saw the JBL speaker emitting some cool worship music my way. Check out the speaker grill. That would work great for a light guard! Where can I get one of those? OMG, perfect, but do I need to buy a speaker to have one?

All this is going on while church is happening. IT is a good thing God really likes dirt bikes, and the people who ride them. I believe He likes my creativity and fabricating pleasures.

A couple of hours wandering around Phnom Penh asking questions and I found a guy who manufactures big speakers. He was hoping to sell me speakers, but agreed to just sell me a piece of grill for $3.00.

I tested the grill as is and determined it blocked too much light so I created a pattern and snipped out pieces to increase the porosity. At first I was discouraged because I thought the idea looked like my Grand Father's old screen door. I kept going though and massaged the metal into the shape I wanted.

The BD LED light power cord exits the left side of the light and was a bit vulnerable to bamboo vines and other things that reach out to us while riding. SO I incorporated a bulge in the guard to protect it.

OK, so Inmates........... I am concerned that I have lived in Cambodia so long (20 years) and have made due with stuff that my design sense has gone dorky.

Please cast your vote and tell me if you think this guard is ..... 1 to 5. 1 is cool to 5 "what are you thinking, putting that on a nice bike!"

Thanks for your input.

I have seen the straps go to the foot pegs and the bag seems to look like it's in an up right position and not sweeping forward, the way it is mounted now it has not interfered with my legs, but the exhaust has never been a problem. Although a wise man once said"it's only a problem when it becomes a problem"

I do enjoy reading this thread a lot... Here's a small contribution from an even smaller country (Texel)

If you just want to bolt up a fender, I'd go for black with your scheme.

Thanks for the opinion...
yes I will put a black one.
