I don't remember the conversation.. but I do remember thinking "When I get old I hope I grow up to be this guy..."

We were there for breakfast and did not save room for pie.
They did not have as large a selection of pies and I got the feeling that something is different.

I think the Jim's may be gone and the Wife got the store. I'm not sure but was the vibe I got!

Someone please confirm.

First post here on advrider. Popped my cherry after months of being a lurker! I just wanted to thank all the people who have posted in this thread as it is the thread that finally inspired me to ditch the sports bike and get back into adventure riding! As soon as I work out how to post pic i'll share some of mine.

Lee's Valley - north Canterbury NZ

This is in the Lee's Valley North Canterbury NZ. Not far from my parents home. This was a few weeks ago - we've had a mild winter and early spring so there wasn't much snow on this trip. I went last weekend and there was heaps more but forgot the camera .

Decided to head down the coast this weekend for a ride. 300 ish miles later I realized I only stopped to take one photo, and only because I needed a nap.

A couple of hours later I pulled into a motel for a good nights sleep. Night Kty...

Is it usual to take motorcycles in hotel rooms? Afraid of thiefs?
I am asking, because I never saw this in Europe.

Not usually, at least not for me, but in this case there were a few issues:
1) the area I was in was pretty deserted and a bit sketchy
2) my bike was the only vehicle in the motel parking lot while I was there
3) the parking lot was in full view of the adjacent two lane highway
4) there were some locals hanging about after dark nearby

I put all these together and decided I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I wheeled her in for the night. I've had two bikes stolen in the past, and I'm NOT up for a third.
