In this case was just twisting the throttle, because there was kind of a small ramp

But normally, twisting the throttle a little hard on first gear does the trick.
In second gear give a small pull on the clutch lever (to control better) and up up and away

But if you have a rear 45 sprocket, you will be saving a lot of front tire very easily

I was the original owner of that 990 if I am not mistaken man. Bought it new at Ridersville Cycles in WV. It's a great bike. I love seeing it being ridden! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I loved that bike.
