A few from an attempt this Sept to ride the Nevada 400+ mile portion of the real Pony Express Trail. No RR yet... Trials and tribulations, a real Adventure ride.

Yes we rode through there

Steeper than it looks, as usual...

Neduro ADVtank worked great!

For the meantime I will surf this thread and live vicariously through pictures of all of your two wheeled adventures as I endure my year-long two legged adventure.

I can dream about my new bike sitting in my garage and plan next summer's rides with my wife!

Afghanistan would be an adventure biker's paradise if it were not for the unreasonable and annoying Anti-Coalition forces planting mines and shooting at us all the time. We can all hope for the future. "Afghan rally 2020!"
Keep Your head down Brother. Congrats on the New Ride and the Beautiful Trio at home. Stay safe and thanks for doin what you Do.!

Did you happen to do a ride report? Where are your pictures taken exactly?? Did you see any elk? Did you take the Applegate trail to Alturas, or did you go over Donner Summit?

I love Nevada!

Thats the nicest looking 990 ADV in Reno even if I do say so myself.
Congrats on the new wheels. Get home safe and enjoy the new ride.

Being way too lazy to do a RR, here's a couple of pictures from the annual jaunt, this year to the Pyrenees, and followed (pretty much) road books from : http://pagesperso-orange.fr/vibraction/index.htm numbers 1 and 3.

Trying for that "alone and AdvRider-y" look:

Just having fun:

I can throughly recommend the road books - we did about 300 - 400 miles of off road which we'd never have found ourselves.

cheers

Markie

Looks great Cyborg! Just wanted to get a quick update. Are you still running your tubeless set-up on this bike successfully? If so, I'm going to go down your path soon.

Thanks,
Brent

Brent, yes I'm still running tubeless and did for this trip too, running 22-25psi on OEM rims. No problems. Just a few rim dents I pounded out, no air loss. Running tubeless limits the knobby tire brands/models you can use because you have to run a true tubeless tire. I chose the Metzeler Karoo T, largest rear is a 140, but they worked just as well as TKC-80's and quieter on the pavement. So far they have held up well to really sharp desert rock impacts, decent but not great in sand -- like TKC-80's, and have worn well on the highway because the tubeless setup runs the tires cooler so they last longer. I didn't wear the Karoo's out like some say they have in 500-1000 miles even though I was riding some very rough surfaces... those folks must be spinning the tires uselessly all the time... easy to do with the 990 and yes I know it's fun .

No RR yet, I'm still tired I'll git round to 'it eventually...

No Applegate Trail, several hours South of there, but I know that area too. We went direct East from Carson City on the real Pony Express Trail. Only critters I saw were cows, coyotes, deer at night and an owl. It was hunting season too, so the big critters were probably hiding... Nevada does have great offroad riding.

Yeah, what's the deal (brand) on the wheels? Looks like a set of BMW wheels to me.
