So this next stop was a few hours from the Parkway, but it was a place I wanted to visit.

Heads up, you'd be advised to bypass Skyline and ride the more fun backroads from Front Royal to Afton. I'd reccommend up against the East side of the Blue Ridge.

Or from where you are, down toward Cumberland and Moorefield (try Swedlin Valley) and come over on 250 (or old parkersburg if you prefer gravel) then work your way to Vesuvius and up to the BRP on 56.

The distillery was built here because of the spring water

4 of us took a trip to the Dragon in the spring with plans to run a good part of the BRP on the way there and back but after about 250 miles we couldn't take the boredom anymore. It's beautiful and all that but after awhile its all the same to me.Rangers were everywhere and 45 is just too slow.

I agree that we all ride for different reasons and get different things out of it. For me I feel the same way about the Dragon as you did the BRP.

I didn't enjoy the heat once I had left the mountains and couldn't wait to get back. I decided to head to Tellico Plains and ride the Cherohala Skway to Robbinsville.
