Once I made it to Cherokee NC (the end of the BRP), I took the Cherohala Skyway over to Tellico Plains TN and spent the night in a cabin at the Cherohola Motorcycle Resort. Very nice place with friendly people running it.

Well that's about it. The trip was 5 days,1658 miles and cost me about $160 not counting food.

Thanks, beautiful area and riding. I was up there for the Sherando Lake BMW Rally last month and enjoyed the Skyline Drive as well.

Thanks Riff...just my attempt at givng a little back to the advrider community. The camping was just 16 a night and I splurged for one night in the cabin for only 45. The F800GS usually gets 55-60 MPG.

Rog... Can you tell me some more about the camping? Did you have it planned out or did you rely on the park system, or .... How did you choose camp sites?

I am planning on making this trip this coming year. Wanted to this year, but..... ?!

I basically relied on the park system. I had a list of campgrounds near the parkway with milemarkers listed just in case. I had a parkway map which list all the campgrounds on the prkway. My plan was to make it to otter creek the 1st night, after that I just went to the closest one at the end of the day. There are a few Inns right on the parkway $$$ as well you can stay at, but I was on a tight budget this year so the 16 dollar a night campgrounds fit right in.

I should have also added that a good map is available at any of the visitor centers. I also downloaded maps from here http://www.virtualblueridge.com/maps/ so that I could print them in 4 parts and make notes on them etc.
