Hi Doug,
I know I should have stayed longer... next time for sure !
By the way, I still have your Turkey-Highway-card. Shall, I send it to you ?

After my trip to Turkey (Edirne & Istanbul) I drove through Greece in 2 days.
My next destination was Macedonia. It was kinda difficult to find the border between Greece and Macedonia. For one or other reason I'm having the feeling that the Greek people don't like the Macedonians. There were no signs to the border. I just had to ask directions.
Macedonia is beautiful ! the mountainroad from Bitola to Ohrid is a fantastic ride.

I enjoyed staying some time in Ohrid. Relaxing, doing some sightseeing, reading, drinking a cappucino / beer,...
It was a very nice place to hang out.

From Ohrid it's just a short trip to the Albanian border. A beautiful ride along the Ohrid lake.
At the border with Albania everything went very smoothly. As I didn't had an insurance for the bike, I had to arrange this at a small office at the border. It costed me 20 euro.
And then I'm into Albania ! a very scenic road leads me to Tirana. But the small villages (or bigger towns) which I encounter on the road a realy very very poor. It's a shame that people in Europe have to live in such conditions. And it makes me realise again in which luxuary we are living in Western Europe.
Tirana it self is a rather pleasant dusty town. I'm just staying there for a day and proceed to Durrės. This costoal town is much more relaxing. A very nice surprise.

after my stay in Durrės I rode further North. My plan was to drive to Shkoder. But when I left Durrės the sky was already grey. A few kilometers further it started to rain. And it just became worse and worse.
It was horrible weather ! And also the roads became extremely bad. I just drove further on automatic pilot and changed my plans and went further to Montenegro to find some sun over there. But unfortunatly it was even worse over there ! It was a dangerous drive through the water which was pouring from the mountains, streams of mud and falling rocks.

no pics from the floods in Montenegro. It was to worse to take my camera out.. I left it nicely packed in plastic...

Hi Shane,

Thanks!

I'm using a Nikon D700 with a Nikon 28-70mm f2.8 lens. I wished I also took my 28-200mm with me, but all this camera stuff is so big & heavy...
