Looks good.. the thread seems ok from my end.. Copying and pasting from Word introduces code that sometimes locks up the thread.

You've Got To See It All

For some reason, the altitude and speed box, which is supposed to be below the map, is not showing up on ADV. I'm not sure why and I'm working with the camera vendor to see if we can figure out why. Maybe the ADV mods know?

Anyway, here's a second test that takes off from the first one.

Frankly, if this doesn't work, I may just post a link that you can click on so you can see the altitude and speed box if you are interested.

Click the link below...

http://www.contour.com/stories/vermo...road-part-2--2

...if you definitely want to see the altitude and speed box until I figure out how to embed it. Also, check out the full page view, its pretty cool too with the map staying as an inset.

Enjoy!

Oh and ONLY ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!!!

Have a great time you two. I sure wish that we riding with you instead of the foolish adventure that I'm taking off on tonight.

Don't forget about the Pisco Sour warning...

Rental Bikes

Some of you have asked whether we shipped our bikes or are renting. The short answer is that we are renting. The bikes are pretty expensive, but worth it we think.

Here's Kim's:

Here's mine:

Hey, what's up with that?

Leaving tomorrow... Get ready!!!

Made it to Santiago!!!!

Well we've made it to Santiago and we are happy to report that it is about 75 degrees F and sunny. Life is good. Traffic is wild. People are nice. We are having fun. But's let's tell you a bit of the prequel shall we...

We arrived at Boston's Logan International Airport and got ready to board a horrible airline. Quoting a fairly famous comedian, "I won't tell you which airline it was but let's just say... "It was an American Airline."

The flight was completely full, the service was crap, and the seat pitch was less than required for a 30" inseamed midget like me. We'll actually, a 30" on one side and 28.75" on the other side, broken femur from bikes and stuff.

(as you can see, there's plenty of room for my right leg)

We supposedly landed in Dallas, but as we got off the plane, we knew we weren't in Dallas, or Kansas for that matter...

We were in the Emerald City!

We went looking for the Wizard but he was not to be found. So with a bit of a letdown, we headed for a late dinner. And when we arrived, surprise, surprise, it was true, we were in Dallas!

After some very spicy dinner we headed for our flight to Santiago.

The flight to Santiago was about the same as the trip to dallas with the added element that we were in the seats directly in front of the lavatory which clogged in flight and the flight crew decided to do nothing about it. Nice. Well at least we didn't hear the flushing all night.

So enough whining about this un-named American Airline.

We were on final approach to Santiago and caught our first glimpses of the Andes...

Pretty majestic stuff to wake up to. Snow near the peaks and 70 degress F below. Beautiful!

Santiago the City

What can we say... It's nice!

We've got a room with a balcony...

After surveying the room, we decided a walk around the city center was in order. So we took in a few sights...

Cool skyscraper...

Grab a little lunch at a sidewalk cafe'

What? DD in Santiago????

You know, go to DD and Energize your life!!!!

We have seen a bunch of cool city bikes. Small displacement, many supermoto types, but I had never seen anything like this...

A Sachs, MadAss 125. Disk brakes on both ends, underseat exhaust, tubular frame, bar risers, 125cc of howling mad power! How about that?

Tomorrow we head to Pucon'. More soon! Til later!

Today's Spot

Well folks, we've been out and about with Spot and still no luck hitting a satellite. We are surrounded by tall buildings in the city center and mountains surround them. So we're going to call it a day on trying to get Spot track to you today. As soon as we clear the city, I'm very hopeful we'll hit a sat.

We're off and running early tomorrow AM to hopefully you'll see an early Spot track from us.

Til Later!
