The weather looks decent Saturday. I don't know if I'll head around Graysonia or around Chula.
Anyone else tired of winter and have the day off?

Central Arkansas ride planning and B.S. thread

Just a heads up; we'll have Trevor Ware, aka the kerncountykid, at the ABATE swapmeet this weekend; stop by and say howdy to a true ADV rider.

Some of us guys around little rock are going to meet at Gradys in little rock this Saturday around 6pm. Kind of a get together to meet new people and a chance to catch up with old friends. All are welcome!

I'd try the table where everyone is either wearing some gear or a motorcycle t-shirt.

Hey everyone -

Just stumbled on this thread and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a native Arkansan and love the outdoors of the Natural State. I'm a total newbie - got a 2001 DR650 last fall and loving it. I mostly use it to commute around as I'm a med student and have about zero time to play, but am hoping to have a few adventures on it before all is said and done.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and hope to get to know some of y'all eventually.

We live in Conway. I'm a nursing student. Riding is precious and limited these days. It happens. Nice to meet you.

Have any of y'all done the Arkansas section of the TAT? What parts do you recommend for a newbie? I was thinking about the stretch between Clinton and Oark (goes through Hector and near Dover) - could a jeep or subaru forester make it over that stretch or are there parts that are too hemmed in for something that big? (I'm gonna have a couple friends come along so I'm not out there by myself).

I'm comfortable on gravel road like your typical forest roads. Stuff like power line trails that cut right up the mountain are a little beyond my skill level at this point. Nor do I have the proper protection - I've got a jacket w/ armor, trials boots, and a helmet obviously.

Other than camping gear, what do you recommend taking? Tools, etc? (I'm probably just going to start with either an all-day trip or an overnighter.)

You should take tools to change a flat or at least patch the tube. Things like sockets, spoons for the tire, some kind of bead breaker, small air compressor. You would need to run the compressor off the battery. Maybe take along some zip ties too.

I'm all right, but I had the pizza. Sorry I never made it down to that end of the table to meet you, maybe we'll get a chance to ride together soon.
