I second that motion. But... I believe that some regular guys like us should keep an eye on these places. The more people that are in the areas near these parks (especially in areas that have open access with no signage), that have respect for them. The better the chance that they will be still pristine when the real rangers get back. If you know what I mean. Nod Nod nudge nudge

I just found a interesting way of preventing flats. Tireballs.com
Its about $200 per tire though.

Anyone going riding tomorrow? Im down to go any where. We could go do some exploring or check out several areas I havent been able to check out yet.

530 XCW or KLR? I have a 450X and a F800GS and was thinking about taking the X to Florence and staging off of Cottonwood Canyon Rd and the Gas line about 8 AM. Reno Pass looks to be closed according to riderplanet.com. I have never been to Mount Ord - is it doable on a GS?

Ride

I was planning on the 530XCW for Reno Pass or Mt Ord. I have not been on either but know someone who took a GS up it and only dropped it once. I am in North Phx so that is why I was looking at rides to the North. I could come South if I can get everything together in time. Please be aware I am not fast. I understand Reno Pass can be accessed from Punkin Center but with the forest service closed I do not know what options there are.

OK - I will probably stick to my original plan as I want to try out some new RX goggles I got and ride off road only on the X. I will be cruising the pipeline road, trails and may head into box canyon. You are welcome to join.

Tire balls are a mixed blessing! I pit for Shannon Cambells Monster Energy team racing Ultra 4 and Desert racing class I. They are a pain in the @$$ to install and even worse to take out to change tires. On the other hand he can run 100mph for 15 to 20 miles and make it to the next pit with a 4" gash in his sidewall. If you are at a higher level of competition they are worth there weight in gold. I don't currently run them in my 1900 race car primarily because of cost. I know they came from the motorcycle market but I'm not sure if you need the air manifold that's required to run them in bigger tires.

DR650 Chain & Sprocket Recommendation

What chain and sprockets are recommended for a DR650SE?



I do a lot of highway speeds during my commute.



But also like to be able to climb the hills of Bulldog Canyon!

Rick I would change the front sprocket by one. Even though it is a drastic change compared to the rear it allows you to revert to a higher gear in about 10 minutes. If you ride highway everyday and the gear makes it less vibe and a more enjoyable ride, then a 10 minute sprocket change Friday night or Saturday morning would be a small price. IMHO -Paul

This was one of the first blogs I read when I moved to the valley. Apparently a girl can ride to the top of Ord on a GS. I say try it.
