Lugging that big brick of a piston at low RPM or slinging it at high RPM will eventually do something undesirable. I would like to see what the torque difference would be with the 685 kit. If you could change the sprockets and get 75-80 Mph at 5k I think you would have a 100k mile or better drive train. Not to say with a few quarts of oil per month you couldn't do that as is at 6k or better Rpm.
One of the first things I did to the bike was put a 16 tooth countersprocket on so I generally don't run it more than 5k rpms. I think it definitely feels at home around 4k-4.5k. I'll try and switch the plug and see what happens.

Trails we'd just ridden.

Great Day

Thanks to everyone for another great ride. I have to say while not too bad the last stretch heading up to Mt Lemmon as a bit tougher than the last time I went.

Until Next Time

Thanks to all for a nice day of riding. The twisties were worth the long slab home. I rode a bit down Tanque Verde and explored a bit before turning around and going home. Mike schooled me on down hill carving. He has some skillz!

Ok a few more....start with a nice meal at the Queen Creek Cafe.....

Our motley crew...Paul, Julio. Lauren, Kathy, bill......
Wade rolled in right @10 not having gone to San Diego for a DR and a copy of the the title

In Florence we all noticed the wind had kicked up quite a bit....this was kinda ok as it cleared the dust on Willow Springs road
enough to make it bareable most of the time...here we stop at the end of Willow Springs and 77...

I think this is on Mt.Lemmon road...I actually prefered the rockier, rutted road to the floaty sand like Willow Springs...next time I might air down some

View from 8000 feet....still evidence of the fires....

Valley view from the heli-pad...

Paul and I opted for the General Hitchcock highway route down to Tucson...this was 29 mles of super scenic twisties...
my method of tailgating cars with my high beam usually made them pull over so we could continue our blitz down the mountain

Thanks again everybody !

Well then you're gonna love this little offshoot trail I found yesterday. It's only a bit over 8 miles but it's a workout.

I had it marked on my GPS but since we were moving fast on the way up I didn't want to stop everyone to ask if you wanted to try it. On the way down I got ahead of Bill and Paul and took it for a little bit to check it out and it's a lot more challenging than Mt Lemmon road is.

While exploring one of these side trails I came upon this one that shot straight up into the sky. Here's a pic of me 3/4 of the way up it where I decided it was a bad idea to try and continue on by myself.

That sucker was steep!

I stopped and waited for Bill and Loren and snapped these pics from where I was.

Two more straggler pics of the day.

The 79 home always sucks.

I need to mount some auxiliary lighting for these trips because riding home at night with my st00pid little flashlight of a headlight is downright dangerous.

I guess I was in the wrong spot this morning? I'm new to dirt riding and wanting to meet up with others.

The Sunday meeting is at Tatum and Bell in parking lot with the Starbucks and Dunkin donuts at 9:00am?

When's the next one?
