Great ride yesterday on A-Cross Rd., and Apache Trail. Yes, I rode the correct bike this time! Ended up at Tortilla Flat for a late lunch, then went on home before it got too cold. (story is on the blog)

Today I rode the F800ST to a quick breakfast at DVA. I was actually warm. Love those electrics! ;-)

Jo,

Very cool, You can never go wrong with that route.

I am thinking about doing Montana Mountain again Saturday. What do you all think?

Cherry Creek 1-1-14

Strong possibility I'll ride Cherry Creek tomorrow. If anyone wants to tag along speak up. My daughter gets upset when I ride remote areas alone.

Sorry, Ron, will be home tomorrow. Dad's coming over for casserole. I want to get him out of his house and thinking about something else besides how crappy his life is now that my mom is gone. It's always a challenge to keep him in a (somewhat) positive frame of mind.

Happy New Year, and I hope things will go well for you in 2014. Happy New Year to everyone!

Old Superior to Miami Rd

Any of you know of the old highway 60 road that starts off at Superior and ends before Miami? When your on 60 you can see bits of the old road. I found where it starts in Superior. It's gated but would be easy to ride around and it looks like many have before. Very tempting. Any of you done it?

The road starts at Superior here:

It crosses a bridge and goes through a tunnel. It eventually comes out at the highway. Than if you want to experience more of the old 60, go to "Top of the world", cross the cattle guard and head towards Superior. You can get in a few more miles there.

This area is popular with rock climbers and hikers, wonderful area.

I've wanted to ride that old 60 route for a long time. I wasn't sure if it was "cool" to ride it, or if I'd get in trouble if I did. I'd love to do it sometime on the KLX.

Missed the ride with you guys to Cochran the other day and I was able to slip out for a few hours today so I headed that way. I've been wanting to check out Diversion Dam road but I was told that you couldn't reach Flo-Kelv Hwy from there. There was also a sign stating that it dead ended 6 miles ahead at the begging of the road. Yeah, like that's gonna stop me from checking it out anyway.

I figured I could take it and ride down through Whitlow Ranch Rd.
But of course there was a gate at point B.

So I looked around and took some pics.

Hmmm....I'm looking at the GPS at this point and I notice something...
What if we get on the other side of this thing...

Diversion Dam is close but menacing fences and signs kept me at bay.

A few strange trails later I actually made it to Whitlow Ranch Road!

Desert oddities.

There's a lot of little trails to explore in that area. It's much better than taking the paved section of Flo-kelv to get there.

I didn't finish the route I had intended because it was getting late and there were a few gates that looked like they didn't want to be opened. I'm much more cautious of where I get myself into when I'm alone out there but when I checked the tracks when I got home and I think it would be ok to ride through there. It would make an interesting day out by that area for sure.

I wanna go back there.
