I am from the west side and will meet you guys at the staging area. I have been there before and there is an obvious kiosk with a posted map and a large dirt parking area right off of castle hot springs road. Its at the intersection of cow creek road and castle hot springs road, both dirt roads at this point. Can't miss it. I will be there by 8:45. If this is not the staging area you guys are talking about please let me know. You can check it out and see this area on google maps. They say it is going to be a warm day so bring lots of water

Staging

It appears we have 3 or 4 different suggestions for staging areas? Bill, your google photo looks like the first one you posted that may not work? Then there was a staging area just shy of where the road comes to a T but still asphalt which I thought was the place; a google earth photo was referenced. Now there may be a couple of other suggestions. It doesn't matter to me which one we choose, I just want to be at the right one. Can someone clarify for me? Thanks a lot.

NewView, pretty sure you are not talking about the same place as KTMser. The park rangers are trying to discourage staging from this area at the intersection of Cow Creek and Castle Hot Springs.

It used to be an old landing strip.

In total, it is 4.3 miles after the pavement ends.

So here is the plan:

Meet at Coffee Rush at Baseline and Gilbert at 7:00 for everyone on the east side of town and leave by 7:30.

I think that should put us at the staging area around 8:45 - 9:00
If for some reason we are not there exactly on time please wait we will be there I promise.

Here is the staging area again

To get there take Highway 74 to Castle Hot Springs Rd and go North The staging area will be just after the road turns to dirt before the road splits east and west

later
Bill
I'll be at Coffee Rush at 7AM. I'll be on a black 1150GS. Looking forward to the ride. Bruce

New plans

Guys, I'm going for an early start with team taz. We're meeting at 6:30 am to avoid the traffic going up the back way. I'll be on an XR650R and team taz will be on a XR650L in case we cross each others paths during the ride.

Bruce,

I am really glad you are going to go.

As for the staging area I am sorry for all the confusion.

Let's go with this as the final staging area:

Here is the up close shot

Here it is zoomed out

Can't wait for tomorrow

Now I have to do some bike maintenance

Take Care

gatogarto,

I can't blame you for wanting a early start. Ride safe and maybe we will see ya on the trail.

Idea for a ride

A guy visiting from the great white north posted a video on the Tucson site. Post # 14885. I don't know how to link it, Maybe one of you wiper snappers can do that. It looks like it would be an awesome over night ride. Maybe the guy has GPS tracks. Again would do me know good. Maybe he could trace the route on a rock for me. I have been to a couple of the places he goes, and a few I have never seen. Check it out. Wade

early start to crown king

If anyone else would like to go there's room for more. We'll be doing some single track like down the bradshaw trail. Then maybe some other single track and then back through minihaha on the wagner road, then back to lake pleasant

I wish I could wake up early enough to ride with you guys. I have been craving some single track.

IBRIDING, my brother and I will be at the staging area when you determine the time. I am driving a black lifted duramax and am letting my brother borrow my xr650r and I will be on a ktm 950.
