Anyone get a pic of this pothole? KLR's have like 8-10 inches of ground clearance, don't they? Dang!

Elio

More stuff on the Elio. They are lobbying for it to be considered an autocycle now. Which means that you wouldn't have to get the motorcycle designation to drive it legally.

That's the one. It's about 8 feet wide and about 10-12 feet long but only about a foot deep at the deepest part. Heading west (which we were) it's a shallow dip until the west end of it which is a sharp edge about 8 - 10 inches high.

Kind of like running into a curb straight on at 35mph+ without knowing you're going to hit it.... Suspension only does so much before skid plate connects with ground. Agavelvr did a great job trying to recover from the initial impact.

Agavelvr, glad to hear you're up and getting the new moto ready to ride.

The bill is HERE. Looks like all it's doing is providing an exemption from having a class M license for people who drive "Autocycles".

I wonder if they would allow autocycles to ride the HOV lane.

Sounds like they will. Technically autocycles are motorcycles under Arizona law (that's how I understand it anyways). They only thing that the bill is doing is giving people an exemption from having to have the M designation on their driver's licenses in order to drive them. So, drive them with a normal driver's license and have all the perks of being a motorcycle. I can't wait to hear about lawsuits surrounding the guys who start parking these things in the motorcycle parking spaces etc.

Thanks! I'm excited to get the new bike out once I get medical clearance. Kind of hard to get satisfaction from sitting on it in my garage and going thru the gears while I make moto sounds

I could have "bought it back" for the salvage price. I did that with my truck a while back, fixed it up, and then went through the process of getting it inspected and titled as a salvage vehicle. I intend on keeping the truck till it dies, so a salvage title wasn't a problem. With the KLR, I figured the limited financial upside and time involved in doing it wasn't worth the effort, especially when the salvage title diminishes the value in people's minds. Anyhow, gotta focus my time on healing and getting the new bike prepped before the season is over.

Anyone riding this weekend? I've finally got my XR back into the land of the living after about a month-long tear down for maintenance and upgrades. Fixed my kickstarter oil leak, new fancy-pants handguards with integrated turn signals, added an oil cooler kit, some mucking about with the carb.

That sums it up nicely. While heading southwest in the dust and low hanging sun, it really did not look like a big deal, especially after our morning of fun Be careful out there fellas.

OK, let's discuss the new bike now. It's been in the garage sitting and all you can do now is admire it. So, let's see some photos of this new steed that is in the stable..............

What are you going to do with the 250? Any interest in selling it......

I bet the new bike is a KTM690..........what do I win if it is?

I am looking to ride this weekend, maybe tomorrow. What do you have in mind?

Anyone else riding this weekend?

Nothing too daunting, just some forest roads somewhere. Lots of recent mucking with the oil system, so just an hour or two to make sure there's no leaks, and if there are, close enough that I can get back home OK.

Four Peaks to Roosevelt and through Tortilla Flats is about the right size of ride, but I'm game for any other route of similar size close to home.

refokus: How about Sycamore Creek area, from Hwy 87 back to Bartlett Lake?

Either back out the way we came, or all the way up to Horshoe and Sheep Bridge?
