What a coincidence. I'll be in Vegas this weekend also. Looking to get out on a ride the following weekend as well. I was thinking of trucking the bikes out to Payson ( I know, I know but I have company [Steve is here] and I don't want to ride the DRZ up there ) and doing something like this.

Just a thought for now.

I like that thought!

How's from B to 260? Bulldog Canyon like?

:-)

HOT.

Which is what I'm trying to avoid by trucking the bikes up to Payson. :)

Sorry, should have been more specific.

In the map there's a point B on the Young Hwy thru Chamberline Trail - NF200.

That section, how is it? I think I've been there before with Paul & Bill & Loren but not sure.

;-)

oh. I have no idea. That should set off all kinds of red flags coming from me.

I have only ridden Rim rd. The rest would be new to me. I think. I can't remember what I've ridden.

Isn't that section Colcord road? I think it is, nice and easy.

Some of it. After Young Hwy (512), right onto Chamberlain Trail, then becomes NF-200 and it finally ends at Colcord Rd. Right at that point and ride all the way to 260.

Good to hear from you Paul. That's a massive undertaking. Knowing the school systems are in your hands worries me a little bit but I guess it could be worse. It could be in my hands.

All this talk about easy roads also has me worried. I don't want to beat up Lil' Steve but I also don't want the entire route to be cake walk.

Been tinkering a little bit with the route.

What do you guys think of this.

It drops a little bit on Desert to Pines and picks up the upper portion of Cherry Creek Road. I think that's the easier part of Cherry Creek, right? (points C to E)

Then I guess what I would call the bonus loop (since it's at the tail end of the route, so we can bypass it if we want) would be points J to L. Crackerjack Road down to Baby Doll Ranch Rd. What concerns me a bit is at point K it crosses the Verde River. Any idea if it's ok to cross there? Or should we just go find out?

Seems that with all the talk of how dry we are right now you might be able to cross the river. On the other hand, it is monsoon season and those areas that feed the river might be getting decent amounts of rain.

You are welcome for that bit of nothing.

You should tell them if it will rain that day too...

That looks like a really fun route.

I think 150-200 is a good full day of riding. We wont be racing down the route but most of it is easy. 260 is paved. The 288 is a dirt superhighway. Rim Road is also just as easy. So the majority of the route should be eaten up at a swift pace even with us taking it easy. You should come with us. :)

Big bike friendly.
